Meet Swati Rajyaguru | Owner & Center Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Swati Rajyaguru and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Swati, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
My decision to start my business came from both my experience as a teacher and my journey as a parent. About seven years ago, I saw how transformative the Mathnasium Method was for my own children as their confidence grew and their attitude toward math became more positive.
As an educator, I had seen many students struggle with math and lose confidence, while others were not being challenged enough. I wanted to be part of a solution that supports both, helping students who need to catch up and those who are ready to get ahead. Opening my center in North Phoenix felt like a natural step so I could create a supportive and encouraging environment where every student can build confidence, strengthen their skills, and enjoy learning.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I own and operate Mathnasium in North Phoenix, where we help students truly understand math and build confidence in a supportive and encouraging environment. What sets us apart is our personalized approach, helping students who need to catch up as well as those who want to get ahead.
My journey began as a teacher and a parent. After seeing how much the Mathnasium Method helped my own children, I was inspired to bring that same impact to my community. Starting the business was not easy, but with strong support and a clear purpose, I was able to grow.
I want people to know that this is more than just a business to me. It is a place where students can change their relationship with math and build confidence that lasts beyond the classroom.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting North Phoenix for a week, I’d plan a mix of scenic spots, outdoor adventures, great food, and local favorites.
We’d start with brunch at Snooze, an A.M. Eatery and spend a day exploring the beautiful lakes in the area, relaxing by the water and maybe renting a kayak. Another day, we’d take a trip to Sonoran Desert Museum to see desert wildlife and learn about the unique ecosystem.
For food, we’d hit The Henry for a great meal, Postino for a relaxed evening, and Toca Madera for a livelier dinner experience.
We’d do a whale watching adventure at Dana Park for an unforgettable day on the water. Midweek, we’d escape to Sedona for an overnight stay in a cozy cabin, with a scenic hike among the red rocks to take in the breathtaking views.
Finally, we’d explore Old Town Scottsdale for shopping, food, and nightlife, making sure to mix relaxing moments with memorable adventures.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to give a shoutout to my family, especially my husband, who has been incredibly supportive throughout my journey. He played a key role in helping me start my business and took on so much behind the scenes, including managing finances, so I could focus on building and growing the center.
My brother has also been a constant source of encouragement and guidance whenever I felt unsure or needed direction. I am grateful to have a strong family foundation. I was raised with values that taught me to put people before profit, and that has shaped the way I run my business today.
My children have been a major inspiration as well. Seeing their confidence grow through the Mathnasium Method showed me firsthand how powerful this work can be and reinforced my commitment to helping other students experience the same growth.
I am also deeply grateful for my Mathnasium team, my background in education, and the mentors who have supported and shaped my passion for teaching. Their guidance and belief in me have played an important role in helping me build a center focused on student success and confidence.
