We had the good fortune of connecting with Terry Guthrie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Terry, what do you attribute your success to?
As is the case in the majority of success stories there is not one thing, but rather an ability to manage many things efficiently, effectively, professionally and to juggle them all simultaneously. Knowledge, hard work, perseverance, leadership, quality employees, opportunity, and the genuine determination to provide the best service possible to each and every family we serve in an ever changing and evolving government regulated service industry.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I had provided services to individuals with developmental disabilities for many years and worked at a few different agencies. I saw missing components in services being provided and I believed we could do better. I knew we could provide quality services for individuals with developmental disabilities and treat them with diginity and respect, while supporting the families and their needs.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The success of Guthrie Mainstream Services (GMS) belongs to our employees, members and families that gave us a chance and truly built this GMS community.
