We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmin Danae and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmin, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
The Total Mothering Chronicles has a mission to support families and began with the idea of supporting mothers. Doula work, birth work, and wellness consulting with us have an approach towards a holistic experience but one that meets you where you are in your life. You and your loved ones are the experts on you in your life. What I can offer is my knowledge, advocacy, and support. Holding mothers and supporting these families makes a huge difference in their daily lives—confident mothers encourage confidence in their children and inspire them to plan and dream limitlessly. TTMC serves as a gentle reminder that the individual has worked hard, come far, and has made it through so many moments of not feeling good enough.
We serve as the friend, the support system, and the community that says, “You are more than good enough” and “you still have room to grow.” You are seen in your skin, in your role, and you are appreciated. You don’t need anyone’s approval; you don’t have to have validation or a huge support system-even if you want and are worthy of these things. You can create and harness all of these things with the right help, and become that for yourself and for your loved ones.
If we truly believe that children are the future, then I think it is safe to say the people who raise and encourage them are the medium, the storytellers that need care and connection to fully be able to tap into their gifts. Offering individual problems with communal solutions is the main way TTMC helps the community we are fostering.
While we work together, The Total Mothering Chronicles will hold space and educate as much as you allow.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The Total Mothering Chronicles celebrated 4 years in business this year. I’m most proud of the genuine connections I’ve made along the way. No, it hasn’t been easy but every difficult moment or self-doubting thought has brought more and more clarity. The TTMC team has grown so much and so has our small but mighty network of other small business owners. I am excited to see what’s next – for all of us! The curation of The Total Mothering Chronicles began many years ago, and the more I think about it, the more I appreciate where we are going and how we influence the lives of those we touch.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m originally from Staten Island New York and the things to do out there are so very different when thinking about showing someone a good time that’s from out of town! I would definitely take my best friend to Flower Child and the Vig to grab some food. Those are my go-to spots to grab something to eat that I know won’t disappoint.
We would have to see the top of South Mountian and hike up Camelback Mountian or Squaw Peak while they were here – since it’s so beautiful! Those are views you really can’t get anywhere else but in Phoenix.
I’ve been here for 7 years and the older that I get the more I appreciate downtown and central Phoenix. We would have to hit up The Ainsworth for brunch and the Japanese Friendship Garden for the vibe. It’s so beautiful – the koi pond is my favorite.
Second Nature Clinic is a must before they leave town. Dr. Thanki is located in South Scottsdale and her Zen Lounge on Thursdays is an absolute vibe. There are so many amazing services I can’t choose one but they all are so uplifting, unique and offer so much intentional healing.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’d love to shout out some other amazing organizations! But first I’d have to shout out my man and my kids! They are always encouraging me and my consistent motivation to keep doing what I’ve been doing. The way I am loved by him and them is an irreplaceable light in my life.
Big Brown AZ is a family owned brand that focuses on energy and black culture – Kourtney and Jessica Brown both use their talents to bring music, yoga and meditation into safe spaces for families and friends to come together.
KD Homestead Market – created a black woman owned creative space for all things gardening, learning and growing. Co owners, Brandie Kindred and Cierra Dorsey are amazing at what they do and offer tools and products I use for postpartum doula participants.
Occasionally Splendid – is an event service that curates detailed experiences for those looking to put something special together. Christina Davis and Sabrina Davis are creative sisters who help TTMC navigate experiences, offerings and events that I do not have capacity to put together on my own!
Puro Amor Creations – is a mother daughter duo who take pride in their ancestrial knowledge and creative abilities. Ameila Garcia and Sativa Marquez put together beautiful handmade products and spiritual offerings for the community. Both of these women help co create products in the TTMC catalog.
I am grateful to any and everyone who has supported my dreams – the owners of these small businesses are my friends and my family. I believe The Total Mothering Chronicles has something to offer every family and it is in part because of the offerings these amazing humans offer as well.
