We had the good fortune of connecting with The Free Boyz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi The Free, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
It’s not a career for us, we love music and making it. Being creative is the only thing that has broughtn us fulfillment and happiness. Music has always made us feel included in a world of misfits, allowing us to express our selves in ways we could have never found in another outlet
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
We as a group of very unique individuals bring forth combination of expressions through our music, so it is a lot moe than wavy beats and catchy hooks. We let our music engulf our lives and vic versa so we approach each project with a range of emotions and reality. We are who we are as humans; diverse and we portray that immensely in our music.
I’m proud that through all the trials and tribulations as a group, we’ve stuck together and never let it stop us. I’m extremely excited for the new music ahead!
We got here with perseverance, sacrifice and a lot of hard work. It’s fun at the end of the day but you have to be willing to put in the hours!
The most valuable lesson I’ve learned in music “actions speak louder than words” don’t just speak about it, be about it.
I want the world to know they can create without fear. Total freedom. One thing I hope we can do for others is show them that you don’t have to fit in with what’s popular to be successful. Just be yourself to the fullest extent you can. Ultimately it will keep you honest and happy.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a homie or family member was in town I think the first stop would be Drunken Tiger for some fire food and drinks, Hibachi Grill in Avondale is another amazing spot for both but secondly we would head over to one of our local dispensaries, MedMen preferred for some good smoke and finally hit downtown Phoenix for some more vibes and great chill spots like Hannys or Cheba Hut.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our families for being so supportive in our endeavors
