We had the good fortune of connecting with Tracy Trieu and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tracy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It started over a year ago when I was in Cusco, Peru. I had just left my corporate job in Supply Chain Management and embarked on a goal to travel the world for one year. I have been an avid traveler since college when I spent four months in Hong Kong studying.

In Cusco, I started to wonder, what’s next for me? I knew I had a passion for travel, new experiences, and learning about different cultures. I was also a meticulous planner. Part of the joy of traveling starts before I’ve even made it to the airport. The research and logistics of planning a trip brought me equally as much excitement as the experience. I decided to launch my travel agency, True Blue Waters Travel, so I could share my planning skills with others that might find it more daunting or simply don’t have the time.

The intention behind naming my agency, True Blue Waters Travel comes from my love of being surrounded by water and its ability to drive calmness, adventure, and connectivity to our lives. That’s what my business embodies. Travel is a very personal experience that you share with your loved ones or yourself. In consultations with my clients my number one goal is to learn about their travel styles and understand their vision and needs for their trip. I call myself a matchmaker because I match travelers with their ideal vacations. You don’t get that level of personalization when you book through online platforms. My agency focuses on the evolving needs of adults to find harmony in family, friends, self-wellness, and being indulgent. I love planning trips where couples can connect and relax or bringing a group together to celebrate important milestones in their lives.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I recently planned a 9-night honeymoon to Italy for a young couple that experienced Lake Como, Florence, and the Amalfi coast. It brought me so much joy when I got a text afterwards that said “We’ve said so many times that our trip was soooo smooth because of you!” That’s exactly the result I aim to give to clients. I love being able to extend my experience of globetrotting the world to help others find the confidence to do the same.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I’m not traveling, my friends know me as the go-to person for the best restaurants and cocktail bars recommendations in town.

Places to check out – Piestewa Peak for the best sunset hike, Plant Stand of Arizona for some green shopping, Uptown Farmer’s Market on on Saturdays

Restaurants – Origami Ramen, Blind Pig Cafe for New York Italian food, Glai Baan for in intimate Thai dinner date, Taco Boys for night late weekend street tacos, Perfect pear Bistro for lunch, Cartel Coffee, Happy Baos for the best soup dumplings
