Meet VALERIE SILVEIRA | Founder & Champion of Warriors in Hope®

We had the good fortune of connecting with VALERIE SILVEIRA and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi VALERIE, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
There is something truly inspiring about someone who faces adversity head-on and refuses to be defeated. Whether overcoming a physical limitation, an emotional hardship, or a traumatic experience, these warriors teach us that anything is possible if we have the determination and strength to keep going. They show us that we can rise above any obstacle and become the best version of ourselves.
We are drawn to stories of everyday people who become warriors, battling against the odds to achieve their dreams or overcome obstacles. These stories resonate with us emotionally and give us hope that we, too, can overcome our challenges.
While celebrities and royalty may be captivating, the stories of everyday people who have faced hardship are truly unforgettable. What makes these individuals remarkable is their refusal to see themselves as victims. Instead, they see themselves as victorious warriors, taking on each challenge with courage and determination.
As we root for these underdogs, we are reminded that anything is possible if we are brave enough to keep going. In the face of life’s many challenges, we, too, can find our inner warrior and overcome whatever obstacles come our way.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I know from personal experience the impact that fear and grief can have on our lives, having lost my daughter to addiction and murder. But instead of letting fear and a huge hole in my heart paralyze me, I created a blueprint that centers on courage as the key to navigating life’s toughest challenges.
I offer a path toward disrupting trauma through my memberships, courses, workshops, books, and events. My methods are accessible to anyone feeling lost and unsure, and I empower people to step out of their comfort zone and become the warrior they are meant to be.
I understand how to relate to people facing adversity and inspire them to choose courage and hope. My mission is to empower a million women to link arms as Warriors in Hope®.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First off, hiking would have to be on the agenda! There are so many incredible hikes that are accessible in minutes around the Phoenix area.
We love escape rooms and have done them from Anthem to Glendale!
High Street is a favorite spot where you can enjoy Ocean Prime (a favorite) and speakeasy (shhhh – it’s a secret).
A local favorite of ours is Mochilero Kitchen off Happy Valley Rd. at 67th for very different and delicious Mexican cuisine.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Certain people in our lives inspire us to be better. For me, one of those people is my son, Sean Maher. He was the reason I stood up in my darkest days during his sister Jamie’s fifteen-year addiction battle and her dangerous lifestyle.
Sean was a teenager when his sister was shot for the first time, and he had to face the judgment of his peers as news of the near-fatal incident spread through the school. Sean was ashamed of his sister and tried to avoid her or the mention of her name. This shame caused him a tremendous amount of guilt.
He became an only child when Jamie was murdered at 30. Two years later, he turned the same age his older sister was at her death, and he had to face becoming older than his only sibling.
The first milestones Sean faced were unbearable. So, he changed what he did and how he viewed Jamie’s birthday and death date. Instead of enduring those days, he chose to celebrate in a meaningful and happy way. Through Sean’s example, I changed my perspective on those dates and discovered that Sean had led us to rewire our brains for happiness. My husband Rich and I even moved to Phoenix to spend more time with Sean and his wife, Nicki, as we walk this journey of unknowns and an imminent murder trial. Sean’s determination to find joy in the face of tragedy has helped to shape the entire family’s journey through grief. It has given me the strength to continue my mission of providing a roadmap of courage for others to follow.
When the process and journey through the long and tedious judicial system finally resulted in a preliminary hearing some six years after Jamie’s murder, I was ready to be the strong leader, but when I turned and looked behind me, Sean wasn’t there. I turned back around, and there Sean was, leading the charge. His unwavering strength and determination gave me the courage to soldier on through the first harrowing part of the legal process.
Sean was my reason to stand up and fight during the darkest days of Jamie’s addiction. He handles the future of the “new normal” with the courage to continue overcoming the grip of anger and grief that has controlled much of his life for many years.
His determination, resilience, and courage inspire all of us and remind us that no matter how hard life gets, we can always find a way forward.
I am excited and honored to share the stage with Sean in Phoenix October 6th – 7th for the Freedom Experience, where he will share more of his story and message of hope. www.ValerieSilveira.com/
