Meet Victor Garcia | CEO/Founder of Rave Bae Couture

We had the good fortune of connecting with Victor Garcia and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Victor, what do you attribute your success to?
I would definitely say that persistence is the most important factor behind my success and the success of my brand, but only if you’re learning lessons from your “failures” along the way. Even the smartest wealthiest people on earth have encountered obstacles and failures. I personally have experienced some embarrassing “failures” involving my brand Rave Bae Couture and in other ventures.
But as long as you learn from those mistakes and use them to improve, then I think it will be inevitable that you succeed. That’s why I put the word failure in quotation marks, because it isn’t really a “failure” if you’re able to improve yourself because of it. The only true failure is a failure to learn the lesson from a mistake, which leads to making the same mistake over and over again.
Something important to note is that persistence does not equal stubbornness. If your goal is to have a business selling chocolate sausages, but it’s clear after many attempts that people don’t actually like chocolates sausages, then it would be best to no longer persist with that idea. Instead, see it as successfully having learned what people DON’T want, which ultimately points you closer to an idea that people DO want.
So I think persistence and learning from failures is the most important part of a successful entrepreneur/business. It may sound cliche, but there really isn’t any crazy secret for success. Those who persistent and learn from their mistakes will inevitably succeed, not to say that it is easy, but it really is that simple.

What should our readers know about your business?
I think every business should aim to be more than just the product or service they’re selling. What sets Rave Bae Couture apart from many other clothing stores is that we actively foster a sense of family and community, so that our business isn’t just somewhere to buy rave outfits, but something bigger they can be a part of.
At the end of the day, everyone just wants to feel good about themselves. So we focus on making our customers feel confident, free, and important through our clothing and through our supportive community of ravers.
Rave Bae Couture is where it is today thanks to staying consistent over a period of 4 years, despite having little to no revenue in the beginning and COVID bringing a year of almost no sales. The journey certainly has not been easy, but it really is true that: “the obstacle is the way”, meaning that all the obstacles we face ultimately help us learn the lessons we need to succeed.
Some key lessons I’ve learned along the way:
– Make someone feel important and they will want to help you
– Perception is everything, so be clear about how others perceive you and your business
– When dealing with others to partner / collaborate, always talk in terms of how it will benefit them. Ultimately everyone is most interested with themselves.
– The obstacle is the way
– The only way to have the motivation and energy to overcome everything you need to succeed is to truly love what you do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ve been living in LA and the places I recommend people are basically just restaurants and places for nightlife.
For a nice rooftop restaurant/bar vibe:
– Perch
– Highlight Room
– Jean-Goerge’s rooftop
Classy dinner vibe:
– Mr. Chow
– Boa
– Spago
– Otium
For some fun at night:
– Exchange
– Tribl
– Academy

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe I owe much of my success to having read and re-read some important books. The top 3 which have impacted me the most are:
1. Meditations – Marcus Aurelius
2. The Laws of Success in 16 Lessons – Napoleon Hill
3. How To Win Friends & Influence People – Dale Carnegie
