We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent de Sarthe and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vincent, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My decision to open an art gallery stemmed from a passion for art and a desire to create a space that nurtures creativity and dialogue within the art community. After founding a gallery in Beijing which I ran from 2012 to 2017 and immersing myself in its vibrant art scene, I was inspired to bring that same energy and innovation to Scottsdale and continue our gallery program here in the states.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am most proud of the relationships we have built with artists, collectors, and the broader art community. These connections have been instrumental in creating a vibrant and inclusive space where creativity thrives, and meaningful connections are made. Additionally, I am excited about the impact our gallery has had on the local art scene in Scottsdale.

Getting to where we are today has not been easy. We have faced challenges along the way, from navigating the complexities of the art market to managing the day-to-day operations of the gallery. However, through perseverance, dedication, and a willingness to take risks, we have overcome these challenges and grown stronger as a result.

One of the key lessons I have learned is the importance of authenticity. Staying true to our vision and values has been crucial in building trust with our artists and audience. Additionally, I have learned the value of collaboration and community-building. By fostering a sense of community within the art world, we have been able to create a supportive environment where artists can thrive.

What I want the world to know about our gallery is that we are more than just a place to buy art. We are a hub for creativity, innovation, and dialogue. Our goal is to continue pushing boundaries, supporting emerging artists, and shaping the future of contemporary art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would take them to our wonderful museums:

Phoenix Art Museum, Scottsdale Museum of Contemporary Art and ASU Art Museum

We would have dinner at my favorite Italian restaurant Pizzeria Virtu and if we were feeling fancy we’d go to Francine!

If they were up to it I’d take them hiking to the top of Camelback mountain and if we had enough time we’d go on a two day trip to Sedona and Flagstaff to see the variety in nature.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A major shoutout goes to my father. He has always inspired me to pursue my dreams and has been a mentor in my career. Running an art gallery has many challenges and having him in my corner has been invaluable. I would also like to shoutout my fiance and partner Gabby Usinger, without her I would have never been able to take on this alone.
