Meet Vincent Nguyen | Facebook Ads Guy & Future Picture Book Author

We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent Nguyen and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Vincent, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
It’s been nearly 11 years at this point, but I still remember it clearly. I was the Marketing Director for a tiny company that had since grown to become a multi-INC 5000 award winner. Back in 2014 though, they weren’t exactly flush with cash. I was at a business conference in Bangkok with the two co-founders and a co-worker.
This conference was buzzing with hundreds of entrepreneurs building their dreams, tossing around BIG concepts that flew over my head at 1,000 miles per hour. I was wowed by everyone’s passion and although I’d love to say that’s what inspired me to to start my company… it wasn’t until after the conference’s main events that I got the spark…. In a 7-11 parking lot.
“Dude, I don’t think I can afford going to dinner with everyone tonight…” I confided in my co-worker. “They want to go to really expensive places.”
I specifically remember thinking that even if they doubled my wage, I still wouldn’t exactly be living large. The conference and this realization helped me think, okay… I guess I’m quitting to start my own thing.
Big problem. What was I supposed to do?
I was only 20 years old, with no bills to pay or real responsibilities. So I did the smart thing: I quit the job with less than $1,000 in my bank account and no actual business plan.
Like I said, I was 20, so I knew I could just crash at my dad’s while trying to figure things out.
I had some half-baked ideas and decided to invite a few entrepreneurs I knew to dinner. I presented the ideas to them and well… no one at the table was exactly applauding.
Then someone said, “Hey, why don’t you do Facebook Ads?”, since he knew this was something I already had experience with at my old job.
Another guy chimed in, “And make it performance-based!” Didn’t know what that meant at the time but I noticed everyone at the table was super excited about the idea.
Went home and started Growth Ninja on January 2, 2015. A performance-based Facebook Ads company. Four months later, I was grossing five figures a month.
Been doing that ever since.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ha, if you had asked me this a number of years ago then I’d have much better answers. I’m such a boring dude nowadays.
My fiancee and I do Friday date nights at places we’ve already gone to before, rarely trying new spots. We’re homebodies for sure.
I play tennis, pickleball, take the occasional improv class, read and author picture books, and jump between new hobbies constantly like the ADHD-madman that I am. So what I’m taking friends to do really depends on what hobby I’m currently on. 🙂
But hey, a place to play Padel just opened up in Tempe and I’m actually supposed to check it out tonight with a few friends. So maybe I’d take you there.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Justin Cooke and Joe Magnotti from Empire Flippers. These guys were the most amazing mentors I could’ve asked for when I got my start in 2013/2014. Just being around them elevated how I viewed life and business to the point where I still find myself making big decisions based off something they told me or something I heard them say to someone else.
