We had the good fortune of connecting with Vudajé and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vudajé, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Out of everything I have put my mind to over the years, creating and performing music has been incredibly rewarding and liberating. The moment I picked up an instrument, I felt a big part of my identity come to the surface. Being an artist and manifesting my ideas into something real truly feels like a necessity to me.

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
I believe that the dedication to developing my skills and embracing an eclectic palate has set me apart from others. Not to say that I haven’t met my match in any area but to think of music as a competition feels like a step in the wrong direction. I am always a student when it comes to art because there is no single, right way to create. As an artist, I feel it is my job to emanate authenticity in everything that I do. In the words of Chris Cornell ,”To be yourself is all that you can do”.

I knew music was something I wanted to do professionally but it took me almost 10 years until I started earning an income. I wear many hats out of necessity but it has turned me into such a well-rounded creative force. From writing & singing the songs, playing multiple instruments, producing, teaching private lessons, cinematography, graphic design, live sound engineering, etc! I wholeheartedly believe that learning these skills were mandatory to bringing my ideas to life in the way that I envisioned them.

Everything about me is an amalgamation; My music and my background cannot be confined to just one category.
But oddly enough, I think this is something that anyone can relate to. We are all our own unique mixtures of experiences and interests yet that should be a uniting factor amongst one another.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would love to send a shoutout to my parents, my wife, and my siblings for always being so supportive of my creative pursuits. With their love and enthusiasm, I grew up with the confidence to step outside of my shell and grow not only as a musician but as a person. I think growing up in a space where you can make mistakes but still feel accepted is crucial to anyone that is on a path that does not include a blueprint for success.
