We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonathan Allen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jonathan, what do you attribute your success to?
Our customers have ultimately driven our success. They have been our strength and backbone since day one. As a result, we have developed strong relationships with them and we are devoted to their well-being. We strive to bring creativity, flavor, and simplicity to their busy lives by creating exciting new menu items on a weekly basis. A lot of our customers require modifications based on their dietary restrictions. We consequently cater each of our meals around individual needs. Our willingness to focus on individual customer satisfaction drives our company forward and makes each day worth it. 

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I have always had a passion for cooking. Upon graduating from college, I decided to make this dream a reality. I moved to Phoenix in 2009 and began my cooking career by running a neighborhood sports bar kitchen. I was then able to quickly progress to working in a Scottsdale steak house and several luxury resorts, including the Phoenician and Arizona Biltmore. With that expertise, I recently helped open two Hilton hotels. I also became the Executive Chef for a local catering company that hosted all the concerts for Live Nation. Each experience expanded my breadth of knowledge, which ultimately allowed me to create Healthy Chef Phx in August, 2018. Though a small company, the staff at Healthy Chef Phx is made up of the most knowledgeable and hardworking individuals in the food industry with over 80 years of combined experience. As the Founder and Head Chef of Healthy Chef Phx, I aim to bring flavor and variety to the local health food market and catering industry. Twice a week, Healthy Chef Phx delivers fresh, fully cooked meals to your door with each week’s meals different than the last. Healthy Chef Phx can tailor the meal plan to specific macros or any dietary restrictions with meals like “Coconut Curry Chicken” and “Green Chili Enchilada.” Whether you are a family with picky eaters, an on-the-go bachelor, or a gym rat with a strict eating regiment, we have you covered.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
My favorite spot is Bartlett Lake. My family frequently heads up there to swim and relax with the dogs. I also love enjoying all the beauty Arizona has to offer, whether it’s Sedona, Flagstaff, Payson, or Tombstone. The experiences in this state are unlimited!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shoutout my wife and family for their continued support. Their love and sacrifice has helped transform my growing dreams into a reality. I also want to shoutout my amazing team at Healthy Chef Phx, specifically Carlos, Tom, Adam, Lucy, Kevin, and Sarah. None of Healthy Chef Phx’s success would be possible without them. They each bring creativity, order, diligence, and care that allows Healthy Chef Phx to be a true competitor in the meal prep business.
