Meet Jensen Cook: SFX and Beauty Makeup Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jensen Cook and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jensen, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I choose to pursue and artistic career because it’s what I’ve wanted to do since I was little. I was always drawing and painting creatures and I always knew I was going to be an artist.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to classify myself as a SFX and beauty makeup artist. I first started at the young age of 12 with practicing SFX makeup. I loved it so much and just kept practicing. I’m not a professional by any means but I do think my work can speak for itself. I think one of the biggest challenges for me was trying to out do myself with my different makeup looks. I always strive to do bigger and better then the last. I push my creativity further and further and I believe that’s how I’ve come so far with my art. One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is it’s ok if not every makeup look turns out how you wanted to and to not get discouraged, but to get up and work harder. Everyone’s art is special in their own way, but for me it’s being a jack of all trades. I first started with simple SFX makeup then started making my own prosthetics. Later I dabbled in the world of beauty and body painting. One of many thing I’m proud of is my TikTok account I started about a year ago. I post a variety of different makeup videos on it and my following is steadily increasing. I would like the world to see that anything is possible! And with enough hard work and dedication you can make your dreams come true!!

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I come from a small town in Arizona called Pinetop. Here we have very many beautiful nature spots and hiking trails to enjoy with friends. The scenery is absolutely gorgeous and is always a treat to show off. I’d have to say going to Greens Peak and going hiking is a must. And of course getting a little makeup practice in on my friends is always fun for the both of us!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to thank my family and my very close friends for always supporting me and giving me new ideas to play around with. But I’d especially like to thank my best friend Aubrey, who is no longer with us. She shared the same love and passion for makeup as myself. If I ever make it to Hollywood I’m going to do it for her.
