We had the good fortune of connecting with Whitney Illig and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Whitney, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being able to be flexible and adapt the business as the needs of thr business, clients and staff change has been instrumental in our business being successful. I never set out to have a business on my own and never would have imagined it would have become what it has today. Being able to step back and look at where the business needs to go and putting my own ego and assumptions aside has been so important. It’s like you create something and step back and watch how it evolves and change directions as needed. I’m big on trying things and seeing how they work and scrapping plans and trying something else.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m the owner of Hands On! Integrative Bodywork, a small but highly skilled group of massage therapist and energy workers. We really strive on creating bodywork sessions that are tailored to what the client has going on then and blending different massage techniques, energy work, breathing, cupping and other modalities to help the client, where they are at. It’s not a rushed 50 minutes and you’re out kind-of-massage. We are about helping clients to really feel what’s going on in their bodies, be present and begin to heal. Nothing about starting or owning a business is easy but taking it one step at a time and being willing to always adapt had been vital to our success.
The therapists and I have created a safe place for clients to show up, as they are now, and be compassionately treated and honored for wherever they are in their healing journey.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My all time favorite restaurants in Flagstaff are Delhi Palace and MartAnne’s so that would need to be included in the itinerary. Depending on the time of year, spending ad much time outside hiking and camping in the aspens is a must. I also really love visiting the Grand Canyon Deer Farm, which is right outside of Flagstaff.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve had so much support along the way. Specifically my husband, Spencer, who has been everything from my office handyman to the person to let me bounce ideas off of support person.
