We had the good fortune of connecting with William Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi William, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
After retirement, I wanted to keep something in my life that gave me purpose and kept me relevant. I also saw Dark Knight as a way to expand my connection from public Law Enforcement to the private security world and the Nuclear Security world.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Dark Knight Training & Consulting is a concierge LE based training company designed to provide instructor development and training for public LE and Private Security professionals. I do not compete with companies providing end user firearms training like local CCW courses, rather, I focus on making better firearms instructors by providing training to develop those who teach professionally. My goal is to make better professional LE trainers, by allowing them to see beyond techniques and find and expand the underlying principles in their training. I develop courses, lesson plans and drills that are court defensible, which my students can take back to their students and help their professional staff become more proficient. My goal is not to offer cookie cutter user courses they can easily find anywhere, but rather to develop training specific to my customers professional instructor training needs. If I do my job correctly, the professional LE Instructor walks away with a principle-based Lesson Plan and multiple drills that they can offer to their students. My programs are not trademarked or even completely original. Rather, I am sharing what I have learned over a professional lifetime and packaging principles to be taught to the next generation of LE Professionals, both public and private.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to give credit to the Gilbert, Arizona Police Dept and Arizona Police Officers Standards and Training Board (AZPOST) which I served with, for over 30 years. I’d also like to give credit to the National Rifle Association, Law Enforcement Training Division who gave me a voice across the nation as well as the International Association of Law Enforcement Firearms Instructors (IALEFI) and the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) where their Annual Conferences and publications gave me a voice annually and an opportunity to teach on a national stage. Finally, I’d like to thank Josh Logan at Guardian Training and Consulting for helping me get Dark Knight Training and Consulting off the ground.
