Meet Wylie Campbell | I’m an up incoming rapper (Büg Byte)

We had the good fortune of connecting with Wylie Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Wylie, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by the quality’s of kindness, empathy, honesty, and integrity aswell as a strong work ethic. I am inspired by those who consistently put in their best effort. Treating others with respect and consideration, showing compassion and being understanding. I respect those who are reliable and trustworthy, who are looking out for the well-being of those around them. People who demonstrate humility and are willing to admit their mistakes but strive to learn and grow from them inspire me. Additionally, people who are generous, willing to help others without expecting anything in return is something I admire highly.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m Wylie, also known as Büg Byte. I like to describe my music as “a journey from start to end, much like life, and it’s up to you to find meaning in it.” My music falls into the poetic and melodic rap genre with a touch of R&B – the kind that really gets a crowd moving! I’m from Prescott, Arizona, and I’ve been surrounded by music my entire life. at 18 years old, I’ve been creating music for over 5 years. I kicked off my live performances in October of 2021, when I was just 16, and I’ve been doing it regularly ever since. Throughout my years I have learned to use my resources and to appreciate the people around me. Success doesn’t come overnight and I don’t think it should either, Be proud of what you create and keep expanding upon it and eventually success will come in its own way. I wouldn’t consider myself famous, but I am successful at what I’m doing and all I want to do is change this world and help others. I don’t care about money, I would like fame however because I know I can change people’s lives with the music I create and hopefully save them too. My advice to anyone pursuing an artistic career is to keep pushing, stay up and motivated and don’t give up.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having spent the majority of my life in Prescott, Arizona, I can genuinely say that I’m incredibly grateful for the experience. Growing up in this town has been a wonderful journey, and I’m lucky to have called it home. Prescott has many captivating locations waiting to be discovered, and among my cherished favorites are the countless hiking trails that stretch across its landscape. These trails offer an opportunity to connect with nature, each one leading to a unique adventure.
One of the things I adore most about Prescott is its embrace of the natural world. It’s impossible not to be inspired by the breathtaking scenes that unfold here, from the rugged mountains to the serene forests. Growing up in Prescott has instilled in me a deep appreciation for the beauty of nature, and every corner of this town is imbued with nostalgia for me. Whether I’m walking down familiar streets or exploring new nooks, a sense of nostalgia accompanies me, serving as a reminder of the countless memories I’ve made in this picturesque place.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
From a young age I have been infatuated with art but with creativity comes inspiration, inspiration from others and from oneself. From a young age I wanted to be a rockstar and thought I was one, this is most definitely because my Dad C.C was out in L.A and Seattle living the genuine rockstar life before I was born. My parents both serve as huge inspirations in my day-to-day life and continue to inspire me. Music was a huge part of my upbringing because of my parents and because of this I fell in love with music. Later in my life I found my friends to be a huge inspiration, they got me through my childhood and I wouldn’t be where I am today without them. Max Ikner and I have been creating music since we were young and at one point even started a “band” called “Rage” with my brother Cosmo when I was around 10. “Rage” was never anything serious because all of us had little to no experience playing instruments but it’s what inspired me to start writing lyrics and that’s what inevitably ended up to be the creation of Büg Byte (my artist name). Max Ikner and I still collaborate to this day making music and performing at shows, he goes by Max1Mil.
My friends served as huge inspirations throughout all of my childhood and pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and 2 huge contributors to that was Hayden S. and Eli L. because they really showed me how to be a child and enjoy life. My childhood was rough at times and my siblings and I all went through a lot of hard times so having friends to be there and have them support me was crucial to how I got where I am today. Being able to go to my friend’s house and take a break from the chaos to get a touch of what it is like to have a functional family has changed my life and possibly saved it.
Lastly, my family has always served as a great inspiration to me and having a big family to embrace and love throughout the country not only feels amazing but having loved ones to embrace keeps me going. My uncles (Jesse, Silas and Judah W.) pushed me to get out of my comfort zone and try freestyle rap when I was 12 and that’s what sparked my love of creating music and by the age of 14 I released my first song on spotify with my uncle Judah. My grandparents on both sides have provided a loving environment and they have all been kind enough to provide somewhere to live when needed and kept our family safe and they continue to inspire me.
