We had the good fortune of connecting with Ysabelle Ocampo and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ysabelle, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
My balance has changed a lot over time. Throughout all this time, I have learned time management. When I started content creating, I was just 17 years old. Fresh out of high school, but a full time college student, as well as having a part time retail job. Building was hard, it still is. I learned a lot from life. Prioritizing is a big thing too. Content creating isn’t always as easy as it seems. There’s deadlines & specified content needs for each brand. When you have a busy life, it’s all hard to balance, especially when it’s multiple brands you are creating for. I always want to create good content for the brands I work with, even if it’s just a photo of myself with the product. I always remind myself that it’s something I am putting out for the whole world to see.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Hello! My name is Ysabelle Ocampo & I am an influencer. I have been a micro influencer since 2015. I first became an ambassador for smaller companies & I did most of my work through Instagram. At first, it was a fun little hobby while I was going to college full time & had a part time retail job. Creating content is fun for me, I got to mix my two favorite things: photography & creativity. Outside of school & work, I love traveling, fashion, spreading positivity & just being real for my followers. I never had a specific niche on my social media accounts & I think that’s what makes my content so special. I don’t have a big following, but the engagement is always there! Influencing is something fun & exciting for me. You never know when the next collaboration will be & you get to be creative with it. Something I’m proud & excited about is that I never lost my touch to share real things that happen in my life. It isn’t always easy, especially with a busy life. Professionally, I’ve always enjoyed creating content & promoting products I use & truly love. If I don’t love it, I turn the work down. I think especially now, social media can be extremely fabricated. People are SO driven by money & it’s sad. People tend to believe certain products are better because their favorite influencer is using it, but not everything works the same for everyone. The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be kind because my followers are always watching. You never know who is trying to follow your footsteps.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
This is a fun question for me because my best friend lives across the country in the East Coast. She comes to visit almost every other year & we switch off. We grew up together & it’s always so fun when we’re together. I live in Glendale, which I think it the best because it’s in the middle of everything (almost). When she’s here, something we ALWAYS do is go up to Sedona. We love to make it a fun little day trip, go on a hike, eat, shop, take pictures. We always try to do something new, even if it feels like it’s not much. We eat at all the local spots, she loves Postinos (which isn’t local anymore lol). We’ll try to find a fun concert while we visit each other. We love music & dancing. If she’s in town long enough, we’ll try to “spontaneously” go to Vegas or San Diego. We love going out at night, staying up & talking. We’ll try to make the most of our trips out to each other because we don’t see each other as much as we wish!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to give a big shoutout to my family. My mom, dad & sisters. They’ve always encouraged me to keep going no matter how hard it gets & to work hard for what I have. I do it all for them. They remind me what brings me to where I am today & I wouldn’t be here without their love & encouragement! I love you guys!
