We had the good fortune of connecting with Zach Miesuk and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Zach, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?

The goal has always been hyper-focused on building a strong community. Whether that be a community of artists, a community of friends, a community of supporters, and so on. We are nothing without each other. The human experience means nothing if not shared with another person, or community. Instilling confidence in our community is important. If we can help each other be our best selves, and inspire one another to reach our goals, I don’t see how we won’t. There’s an overwhelming power in numbers. Our main goal with all of this is to show people that chasing their dreams is an attainable idea. It starts with building a community of people who will help you see it through.

In terms of the local community, TreeHouse has taken a step into a new realm that is a lot different than anything we have been involved in before. Recently, Treehouse has been working with senators and city council members from Phoenix in attempts to create a bill that can be passed into a law through the senate. The bill focuses on organic waste, sustainability, and educating the public on how they can help. Basically, the bill will require all local restaurants and grocery stores to donate their left-over goods to local food banks and homeless shelters. In doing so, we will be reducing the green house gases that are emitted by organic waste while also feeding the hungry. This bill is still in its early stages, but we are confident and excited to see it come to fruition.

In the meantime, TreeHouse is committed to organizing more donation drives within these upcoming months. Shoe drives, food drives, coat/blanket drives, etc. You can stay up to date with those events by visiting our website or following us on Instagram.

Fun Facts:

– “According to Recycle Track Systems, the US discards more food than any other country – nearly 40 million tons, which is 80 billion pounds every year. That’s estimated to be 30-40% of the entire U.S. food supply. That equates to about 219 pounds of waste per person.” (Creef, 2021)

– “Organic food that breaks down in landfills emits huge amounts of greenhouse gases every year – including methane – which is 26 times more harmful than carbon dioxide.“ (Noorani, 2021)

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
TreeHouse Studios is an independent platform made up of artists that support other artists. Offering services like production, engineering, videography, photography, graphic design, social media marketing, event planning and organization, etc. We are a one stop shop for all your creative needs. Right now, we are working with an artist by the name of Nathan Nzanga (Seattle). Helping him rollout these EP’s that he has been dropping each month and trying to book as many live performances for him as possible. We are also just finishing up our newest spring-streetwear collection for TreeHouse. Trying to stay as busy as we can while, simultaneously, making sure that our creative efforts are being expended in the most fruitful directions.

Starting out, we were just a studio where local artists could come to make music at. Besides that, we didnt understand what TreeHouse could be or what it would eventually transform into. Over time, we’ve seen this evolution of TreeHouse and I think we are going to continue to see it evolve. From a single studio space in 2016 to a creative network of over 150 artists in 2022, we are excited to let the growth continue in whatever direction it takes us. It’s hard to explain what TreeHouse is in a quick excerpt or sentence due to the fact that it’s constantly developing. There’s an underlying need in society to label everything. If we can’t put a name on it, or we can’t understand something in its entirety, that makes us uncomfortable. So naturally, we label something even if we don’t fully understand it. With businesses, people, ideas, art, etc. This concept is seen in the music industry more often than not. One example is the idea of putting certain artists into genres and labeling their music as hip-hop, pop, alternative, etc. Why can’t artists make whatever type of music they want and have it celebrated, regardless of the genre it “fits in”? Our goal is to change the narrative. Less labels on the content that comes out of TreeHouse and more creative freedom. Our goal is to completely flip the music industry on its head. No questionable contracts, no labels, no control over the creative process; we want to offer artists complete transparency. As well as a place for them to brainstorm and network with other creatives. Our mission is to support independent artists. By any means necessary.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Jobot is one of the coolest places in the city of Phoenix. If you’ve never been there, you need to go. A coffee shop, bar, dim sum joint that has its own unique vibe to it. The staff is super friendly and they are always hosting little art fairs outside of their patio every Friday.

The Pemberton, Dog Haus, The Cornish Pasty, Best of Philly, IL Bosco Pizza, Hot Daisys, Ike’s, The Churchill, Japanese Friendship Garden, Kahvi, Ziggys, Hole in the Rock, 5 and Diner & of course, Suns Games.

There’s some really cool venues in Phoenix too. Maybe go catch a show and enjoy some music from local artists. Maybe even go to a stand up comedy show? Who knows. You’re in Phoenix! Might as well see it all.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I want to give a big thank you to my Mom and Dad. They were an integral part of TreeHouse in allowing us to build a studio in their attic when we were only 16. Not only that, but also opening up their house to hundreds of different artists and musicians throughout the last 8 years. I love you guys. Thank you for trusting and believing in our vision. Secondly, I want to give a big shoutout to all the homies who have helped build TreeHouse into what it is today: CPR, Zach Brosi, CK, Nathan Nzanga, Jovanis Cain, Chris V, Danny, Dom, Tommy Hill, Corey, Ian, Alex Cerezo, Trauma, Ross Mac, and MANY MORE. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the love, support, and vision from all those people listed above. We’ve spent hours, days, weeks, months, summers, even pandemics on this dream. And we’re only getting started.

Last little quick shoutout to our partners over at 3DN Group. Chris Vergara and Zac Roy. https://www.3dngroup.com/ For any video production needs, they are the go-to, we promise.
