Meet Zachary Kelley | Tap Dancer & Entrepreneuer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Zachary Kelley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Zachary, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I wanted to take tap dance to a level that has not been seen before. Often times when you think of tap dance you think of many incredible legends like Gregory Hines, Gene Kelly, and more. They are absolutely talented, however, I want today’s generation to know that tap dance is modern, cool, and that tap dance can keep up with the times and be epic in 2024. I started Tap’d Out after winning the Gold Medal for Team USA. My goal was to get the top tap dancers from all over the country to be on one team and create cutting edge choreography. Since than, I did exactly as I said I was going to do. 4 years later I have had 8 sold out USA shows, 1 European tour (2nd tour in 2025), and over 1 Millions views across our social media platforms.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tap’d Out is different because we are not your average cheesy local dance studio. We are creating art, choreography, and performances that are super cutting edge with music that we all love to hear today: Beyonce, Madonna, Maneskin, AC/DC, and more. The coaching staff is truly one of a kind. You often find so much jealousy, and noses up in the air in a normal studio. That is not the case at Tap’d Out. As I like to say, “It is a NO Bullsh*t zone.” We all come to the table with ideas and truly have so much fun working as a team to achieve the common goal: which is for the average everyday Joe to love tap and know that it is very much alive and very entertaining.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am personally a foodie. I would for sure be taking my friends to the local hot spots, newest restaurants in town, and wrapping up the evening with a matcha espresso martini at Pyro before running over to The Global Ambassador. You could say my friend group are the Scottsdale Socialites.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout goes to Aleksandr Ostanin. He was my USA coach that drove me to success, to being by my side and believing in the vision of Tap’d Out since day one, to now someone I consider family. Also all my friends and family who told me to keep going and believing that I could bring my vision to life.
