Parenting series: having a positive impact

Parenting is an incredibly important responsibility and so we wanted to get a conversation going with input from parents in the community. We asked them: what is the most important thing you’ve done as a parent? We’ve highlighted some of the responses below.

Being honest and transparent with my daughter is one of the most important ways I hope to make a positive impact on her life. I try to do this in all aspects of my life but this year it has been an emphasis on my work life. Growing up, I didn’t know much about what my parents did at work every day. I saw how hard they worked, and that instilled a strong work ethic in me. However, what I didn’t see were the ups and downs, the wins and setbacks they faced. This gave me the impression that hard work alone leads to success, and that your job will always be fulfilling if you just work hard enough. Read more>>

As a parent, you naturally want the best for your children, and one of the most impactful gifts you can give them is prioritizing not only their health and fitness but your own as well. My husband and I aim to live the lifestyle we envision for our children. As a naturopathic physician, I recognize that fitness, nutrition, and healthy habits are the cornerstones of longevity. Being there for them in anyway you can.. the transition form one household to another can be difficult on a child so being there as a father and being consistent and showing them love is the best thing you can do in my opinion. Read more>>
