Risk & Reward: can you have one without the other?

By far, the topic that comes up most in our conversations with entrepreneurs and creatives is risk. We’ve had conversations about risks that worked out and risks that did not. We’ve seen eyes light eye sharing about career-trajectory changing risks as well as folks sigh about the risks they wish they had taken. In the field of design, taking risks is crucial. Without the courage to explore uncharted territory and ask challenging questions, you won’t discover new insights or find innovative solutions. The act of taking risks is like venturing into a deep abyss of uncertainty, where you might not immediately find answers. Risk taking is the difference between existing and living. I think a lot of people tend to be afraid of taking risks because it is uncomfortable to venture into the unknown. The “what ifs” take over.
