In our experience, most folks, including ourselves don’t have enough of an understanding of risk and the role it plays in our lives and careers and so we have made a concerted effort as a team to have conversations about risk with our interviewees. We’ve shared some highlights below.

Taking risks has been the foundation of my journey. When I decided to start a training school to prepare individuals for work in home care, I was told it wasn’t a good idea and that there wasn’t any real money in it. Still, I had faith in God and trusted myself enough to move forward. That one decision changed everything. Once the school was established, the home care portion practically landed in my lap. If I hadn’t taken that risk to start the school, my agency would have never come to life. Taking risks is an essential part of growth, in that it challenges you to step out of your comfort zone and operate in an unknown environment.
