We had the good fortune of connecting with Leslie Bryant and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Leslie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to provide a service that was not readily available in our area to help veterans, law enforcement, and first responders with PTSD.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am most proud of helping our veterans and first responders to get back out there and enjoy life. With the assistance of their service dogs, they are able to get back into public places and relax. Giving back and helping others brings so much joy to my life. My biggest challenge was deciding to quit my full time job and devote all of my time to the non-profit to assist others. Without the support of friends and family I don’t think I could have done it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love all of things that Arizona has to offer. My favorite would be to take them on a vineyard/winery tour. High Lonesome Vineyard is one of my favorites, owned by two veterans. Tombstone is almost always on our list of places to visit, as it is unlike any other little town in the West. Bisbee is a unique place and Cafe Roka is one of my favorite places to eat.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My father taught me that if you want to go somewhere in life, you take the reigns and go. Let nothing hold you back. I learned from his example to always be respectful and do what makes you happy. Hero P.A.W.S. would not be here today if it were not for the assistance of Tim Kirk, founder of Warrior Healing Center. He provides us a place to train, as well as being a sounding board for my ideas.
