We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Duque-Parks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I began thinking about my own business when I was looking for a way help others along with my passion of caring for dogs. I have always had a passion for helping others and am a dog advocate. I wanted to deepen both passions and combine them somehow.

I started thinking about what services I could provide to dog owners that allowed me to work with humans and paws alike. One evening, my partner and I were brainstorming and BarkAndBooty came to be!

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
BarkAndBooty provides residential poop scooping services, cleaning all pet waste without a trace!! It is a service with purpose in the Tempe, gilbert, and Chandler areas of Arizona. Happy yard. ✔ Happy paws. ✔ Happy customers. ✔

I am most proud of being able to start my own business and service the clients I do! They are truly thankful for the service and their pets too. Helping others is a great feeling and I get that satisfaction with BarkAndBooty.

I have always been a believer preparing for something but taking situations as they come. That is how I have handled my business. My partner and I worked on creating a system that allowed us to create a smooth onboarding system that is transparent. As situations have come up, I tackled it through communication. It has allowed for clarification and and space where both parties can express themselves.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am an Arizona native and what comes to mind would be the following:

Mid-Town and Central Phoenix area for some nice evenings out hitting local eateries and bars. Phoenix has some great bars such as Little rituals or The Grand (both in central Phoenix).

Downtown Scottsdale or Chandler are great areas that offer great places to eat (Murphy’s Law in Chandler) or Sugar Bowl for some old-school nostalgia (in downtown Scottsdale).

Gus’s fried Chicken in Mesa is a must for chicken fans! No questions asked in my eyes!

Going to sporting event is a must and Arizona has it all depending when they came!! Go Phoenix Suns, Phoenix Mercury, Diamondbacks, Cardinals, Rattlers, and the Coyotes!

A day trip or two to Sedona or the Payson area near Mogollon Rim. Both areas are beautiful to visit and have many activities one can do at both! Sight see and enjoying the great outdoors of Arizona is a must!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to thank my partner for pushing me out of my comfort zone and cheering me on to start my own business!! Without their efforts, BarkAndBooty would not be where it is now. Their support, encouragement, and help allowed me to realize that I can indeed do it and you never know until you try! Thank you truly.
