Meet Katherine Wormley | Author & Creative

We had the good fortune of connecting with Katherine Wormley and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Katherine, how do you think about risk?
Growing up I was not a big risk-taker. I am a natural analyzer and took that perspective with many of my life choices. Whether these choices had the potential for negative or positive consequences, I had to make a pros and cons list in my head before making moves. Some of these choices were the best decisions of my life and some were the dumbest decisions (we shall save those stories for another day). It wasn’t until I started taking my belief in Jesus Christ seriously, that I realized risk-taking was a significant part of my relationship with Him. Putting my life in His hands meant trusting Him and having faith in where He was leading me. Some people think being a Christian is boring, but that tells me they don’t know Jesus. Being a Christian, a true ride-or-die, is the most exhilarating experience I’ve ever had. I have gone places and seen things beyond what I could have done and seen on my own merit. I have taken so many risks I wouldn’t have taken if it had not been for the faith I have in Him. Risk led me back to school to get a master’s degree as a new single mom (the struggle was real!). I then started my own business with little to no money in the bank, wrote my first book soon after, and now I do live interviews on YouTube. Taking these major life-changing risks has given me my purpose, and almost everything in my life has had an upgrade as a result. I am in one of the best seasons of my life and routinely looking toward what is next and new, without fear. I believe that the secret sauce to successful risk-taking is constantly looking for opportunities, even the small ones, and actually taking advantage of them when I don’t necessarily have all the answers. I can’t grow if I refuse to be watered.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
HAVTACHA Publishing House is dedicated to helping Christians share their testimony. I firmly believe in a story’s power to change lives and encourage others. I also believe that Christians have a unique advantage in that their stories share the gospel of Jesus Christ. HAVTACHA Publishing is a company for Christians who come from all walks of life and provides a space to share raw and real life journeys with others while glorifying God. In 2018, I wrote my first book but struggled to get it published by existing agencies. They said my writing was good but my story wasn’t what they were looking for. It became clear to me that they wanted a watered down version of me and of Jesus, but I wasn’t willing to compromise on either, so I created my own publishing company. I have two books published and offer editing services to help fellow writers publish their best content. In addition, I started a YouTube channel called Testimonies of HAVTACHA to help Christians share their stories through live media. Although this is a business, I envision it as my life’s mission and purpose. I find real joy in meeting new people and hearing their testimonies. This is my way of giving back to the world and promoting the Kingdom of God.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
1. Stay in Flagstaff and eat at Fat Olives and Satchmo’s 2. Don’t pass up the Grand Canyon or Sedona
3. Whenever possible, take the scenic routes. You won’t regret it!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First, I have to acknowledge Jesus Christ. He threw me into the deep end when I didn’t think I was ready, and He gave me the strength to keep swimming when I desperately wanted to give up. Second, I want to acknowledge my friends and family who have been riding the crazy wave with me these last few years. Whether it was through encouraging words, helping to care for my daughter, supporting my business, and sharing my endeavors with others, it is a blessing to have people in my corner who actually want to see me succeed and live my best life. Lastly, I want to give my girl Giselle Grieco-Routh a special shoutout. She is a warrior mama of three who has a heart of gold and is my photographer. A couple of years ago she walked through the worst season of her life and continues to show up for others with so much joy and hope. It is the greatest blessing to witness her strength and faith on a daily basis.
