We had the good fortune of connecting with Edgardo Munoz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Edgardo, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I was raised in a family of pharmacists, surrounded by the world of apothecaries and pharmacies from a very young age. My parents, being in the pharmaceutical field, unknowingly instilled in me a strong sense of independence and entrepreneurship. Even at the tender age of 7, their example began to shape my aspirations to become my own boss someday.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I believe that recognition from the world is not my primary goal, but I do understand the significance of spreading awareness about our work. Whether it’s inspiring others or making a positive impact on someone’s life, reaching more people is essential. As a graphic designer and the founder of the non-profit organization “0S3 Movement,” dedicated to promoting cycling in my community, I have embraced the title of “Social Designer.” This identity defines me personally and has provided a deeper sense of purpose in my life.

My journey has been far from easy, and I’ve had to make sacrifices to achieve my goals. There were moments when I hit rock bottom and faced immense challenges. However, in those moments of adversity, I learned the true strength of resilience. I had no choice but to rise above the difficulties and persevere in pursuing my mission.

Though my path may not be one that seeks fame or recognition, I believe that the impact we create and the changes we make in people’s lives are what truly matter. If our work can inspire even one person or bring a positive change to someone’s life, then it is all worth it.

My journey as a “Social Designer” has taught me the value of determination and the satisfaction of knowing that I’m contributing to my community’s well-being. It is in these moments of fulfillment that I find the true meaning and reason for my life’s purpose. I am grateful for the challenges I’ve faced, as they have shaped me into the person I am today, committed to making a difference and leaving a positive mark on the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
‘ve had the pleasure of doing it several times before. In fact, this past weekend, my partner and I seized the opportunity to go out and explore. I always make it a point to discover new places, and it doesn’t necessarily have to be a distant or unreachable destination. Embracing spontaneity, we ventured to Cd. Obregon Sonora. During our visit, we had the chance to meet new people and savor different foods and drinks. Beyond the simple act of distraction, these experiences have taught us valuable lessons, making us aware of how much there still is to see and learn. It’s a reminder of the endless wonders that await us when we live in the moment without rigid plans.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My life’s journey has been truly remarkable, and I feel blessed to have been surrounded by extraordinary individuals who have taught me invaluable lessons. I am deeply grateful for their patience and the opportunities they’ve provided me. Amidst all these experiences, my unwavering support system has been my family and my closest friends. They have been by my side through thick and thin, offering their wise counsel and unwavering support as I navigate through new challenges, embrace failures, and celebrate successes. Their presence in my life continues to be a source of strength and inspiration, and I cherish the love and encouragement they bring to each step of my journey.
