We had the good fortune of connecting with Breeanya Hinkel and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Breeanya, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Even as a young girl, I was fascinated by computers. My father had made sure growing up that we were exposed to up-and-coming technology and he was the one that gave me my first computer. I started down the graphic design path unknowingly when creating the “Hinkel Family Newsletter” in Microsoft Paint (or something like that). After high school in my first year of college, I thought I would like to explore Computer Aided Design (CAD) but found that to be a little too “linear” for me, so then I found the world of graphic design and never looked back. I have been a working graphic designer for over 25 years.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
During my freelance graphic design career, I was offered the opportunity to work for a local magazine, Prescott Woman Magazine, after 10 years of working for the company I purchased it 5 years ago. It’s been amazing to own and publish something every two months that I can be proud of and that can help inspire others.

Business ownership is never easy, it’s constant work but with that can come great rewards. I have learned that you take on the brand of the business and have to emulate that within your community – which can be both a struggle and a blessing in a smaller community.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If a friend was visiting me here locally in Prescott I would have to start with the the downtown plaza. It is stunning in all seasons and you can eat, hang out, drink and shop all within a few blocks. After that, it would be going on a hike in the many outdoor places that surround the Prescott area, including the Granite Dells and Thumb Butte. We would also have to kayak on Watson or Willow Lake and catch a sunset from the rooftop at The Raven Cafe.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My shoutout is dedicated to my dad, who never stopped learning, growing, and being creative. He was a photographer and a self-appointed computer nerve with a love of life!
