We had the good fortune of connecting with Crystal Perez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Crystal, have there been any changes in how you think about work-life balance?
As a mom of three, a wife, an owner of multiple small businesses, work life balance has been by far my biggest challenge as a whole. I would much rather divide myself in two and conquer the world but one thing I’ve learned is slow and steady always wins the race.

I’ve had to be okay with saying no to certain obligations and saying yes to others I may not wanted to attend – but more importantly letting go of tasks that can be delegated to others and allowing my businesses to flourish with the help of those around me has been the biggest lesson I’ve learned to date.

Setting boundaries is always hard, delegating is not always the easiest but being true to your limits and being REALISTIC with your time is key to the right amount of work life balance.

Co-Owner and Operator of Butterfly Kiss and Co-Founder of ILE, Crystal packs an impressive resume. With a M. Ed. and plenty of experience in education, retail/customer service, and now in the beauty industry, Crystal strives to maintain a collaborative spirit and give back to those in the community. A mother of 3 and a wife, she is always busy both inside and outside her storefront. Crystal has grown and scaled multiple businesses, and is just scratching the surface of what’s to come.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Pinpointing just one person is nearly impossible but the support from my family has meant all the difference in my success story. Being adopted at a very young age has given me more strength and confidence that I could ever have imagined. Becoming a first generation college graduate has been one of my greatest accomplishments – I owe so many thanks to my parents who have helped support me through all my early endeavors and helped me build a strong foundation. I’m forever indebted to them.

Becoming a wife and mother has shown me to have compassion and has empowered me to strive to build a legacy for my family. My husband and kids have given me MY REASON to be the best mom, wife and business owner I can be through their love and support.

My customers and all who have supported me has given me the opportunity to keep going, the feedback has allowed me to get better and set an expectation of what our brand stands for and what it will continue to grow to over time.
