We had the good fortune of connecting with Ahna Maglinti and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ahna, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
The main habits that have helped with my overall success, in anything, is prioritizing, time management, and rest. Being a single mom, business owner, and fitness competitor, I have a multitude of tasks and responsibilities throughout any given day. I typically prioritize each day the night before. I list what tasks/responsibilities need to be handled in the matter of its importance. Then I just chip away at the list. I don’t feel so overwhelmed and if I have extra time, I can take care of other things I didn’t think I would have time for. Time management is another habit I maintain. Since I compete, I have to train anywhere from 1-3hrs a day depending on how close to a show I am. That means I have to set my alarm as early at 3:30a to get my first training in before I start work. Being a single mom, I have to also make time for my son, whether its homework, making him dinner, or spending quality time. Maintaining this time management structure allows me to fit in all the necessary things in my day. The last key habit is rest. Most people often neglect the importance of rest. Rest is not only vital to my physical fitness career, but for mental health. Rest can be a full nights sleep or a small nap during the day. Getting as much rest as possible helps me sustain my success.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I handle two main career avenues at current. One of my professional positions is I own a consulting firm where I analyze behavior and personality assessments. I have my Masters in Psychology and my specialty is personality assessments and behavior modification. In this position, I analyzed behavior assessments that are given to people who are seeking a certain type of job or position. Clients obtain our services to help recruit and manage their new and/or current employees. Most of our clients come from the real estate space, but we have clients that are in the hospitality and business industries as well. The next facet of my career is I am also the Marketing Director for UrbanAthletica. UrbanAthletica is an up and coming apparel company that caters to the fitness and active lifestyle. This is a new position for me and something I have not focused on in my overall career. Both of these positions did not just happen. My initial career paths didn’t necessarily lead me here. But what did lead me here, are the connections I made along the way mixed with my skillset. I’ve met many challenges and still meet challenges. The most important lesson I’ve learned is that the challenges will always be there, but you will always get better at handling the challenges every time you meet one.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to dedicate this shoutout to my son, Roman. I ultimately succeed because of his faith and belief in me. There never has been a time where he hasn’t cheered me on, picked me up when times have been tough, or simply just given me the best hug I could ever need. He’s my biggest fan, cheerleader, and love of my life.
