We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Alexis Sams, PT and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Alexis, do you disagree with some advice that is more or less universally accepted?
That food allergies and intolerances have no cure and just avoiding your food triggers is the only lasting treatment option. If they can worsen or change, then they can resolve. They key is to correctly identify what’s driving them, and that’s often overlooked in conventional treatment. And avoiding food reactions by steering clear of food triggers is like avoiding the mechanic when check engine light on your car. Your food reactions are a signal that something in your body isn’t working effectively and needs help. Avoiding care allows that issue to fester and worsen, much like avoiding the mechanic will likely cause more issues with car function. In both cases, the solution is finding the right guide who will fully and properly diagnose the issues and who has the skills to get you the results you want. And that’s what I do for people who want to conquer their food allergies and intolerances.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Renatrition Wellness stands out by offering answers and education to my clients, particularly on food reactions often dismissed as “just happens” or “genetic.” I dive deep into the root causes of food allergies and intolerances, providing my clients with a comprehensive understanding and instilling confidence that their symptoms can be effectively managed.

The journey to becoming The Food Allergy Doc began when my focus shifted from performing arts rehabilitation to a functional medicine approach, particularly for chronic pain and illness. As clients started reporting improvements in their food allergies and intolerances, I adapted my programs to better support this community. Today, I proudly specialize in helping individuals overcome these challenges.

One of the most significant challenges was overcoming self-doubt about my ability to help in this new way. As with any new venture, uncertainty can be daunting. However, witnessing clients achieve an 80-100% resolution in their food reactions reassured me that I was on the right path. It’s truly fulfilling to help food allergy wanderers transform into food allergy conquerers, especially when driven by a genuine desire to assist and equip clients with the necessary knowledge and resources.

I want to convey to those struggling with food allergies and intolerances that the prevailing beliefs about these conditions are not the whole story. There are viable, natural alternatives to managing and resolving food reactions, regardless of their severity or duration. Each reaction and test result provides critical clues, moving you closer to an effective treatment plan.

The FoodClues™ approach I’ve created is unique in its comprehensive examination of food reactions, the nutritional content of trigger foods, and the functionality of you organs, body systems and its chemical processes. This total body approach identifies and addresses the external factors and internal dysfunctions preventing you from enjoying a life free of food restrictions. Simply put, knowing your FoodClues™ is the key to conquering your food allergies.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a total foodie, so I would take my friend to all my favorite coffee shops and restaurants. Here’s are a few of my favorites: Viet Fusion in Chandler, Franco’s Italian Cafe in Scottsdale, Cortado BC in Phoenix, Deseo Coffee Shack in Phoenix, AZ Wilderness Brewpub in Phoenix, and Boba Tree in Mesa.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would love to shout out my business strategy coach Tavona Boggs who continues to inspire and encourage me everyday. I’d also love to shoutout the National Association of Christian Women Entrepreneurs. Their resources, networking and genuine care for me and my business is unlike any group I’ve been in before!
