We had the good fortune of connecting with Jamie Herring and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jamie, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
After twelve years in the Commercial realm of Interior Design, I came to the realization there would always be someone above me who made the final design decision, and I was merely a contributor. My talents and creative ideas were not being fully utilized. I had big dreams of being the one who created, set and implemented the big design goal & vision for my clients. I wanted to achieve their dreams and it was not happening. While I often pondered the thought of owning my business, it was actually my mom who pushed me in the direction of starting the business, as she and my dad had a business of their own, and whom better than them to help guide my path of small business ownership! They knew I had the talent, passion, determination, hustle & love to chart the beginning of something special and unique.

I left the world of Commercial Design and transitioned to Residential Design and now, eleven years later wouldn’t change a single thing about my journey. HDCo. Studio creates and designs spaces that are uniquely reflective to our clients wants, vision & dreams. My motto is “Interiors for your lifestyle” – I create Interiors for your lifestyle, not mine. In my world, Interior Design is about you and how you live & should always be reflective of your individual style and personality.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I started HDCo. Studio with the sole passion of providing the best of Interior Design for my clients. With expansive knowledge gained from top tier Interior Design Firms, HDCo. Studio provides Residential Interior Design Services that are unmatched by others. It is with this experience, I gained all the inner makings of a true Interior Designer, and my design skillset reaches across every design realm from new builds, home renovations, project management to furnishings & styling. I can tear it down and create the vision & details to build it back up!

Our story is simple – “It’s not about me. It’s about you!”

I create interiors for your lifestyle, not mine. Design is about you and what makes your home reflective of your individual style & personality. My journey hasn’t been easy the entire way. As with anything it takes care, attention, commitment and love to see the growth and development of the business. There are some late nights, long weekends and personal sacrifices. Yet, when I see the happiness, joy and love from my clients at the end of the project, that moment makes it all worth it! There will be challenges and I embrace them when they arise. I just ask myself what is the lesson I am being taught in this challenge? How can I learn from it? How can this challenge be turned into an opportunity and lesson to teach me something new? I’ve learned to take those challenges and channel them into lessons learned that have made me a better designer.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Having lived in Arizona for the last few years, my friends and family have visited and love being in my town!!

Arizona has so many exciting and amazing things to do! Whether we are paddle boarding the Salt River while gazing at the majestic wild horses, to sitting atop Camelback watching the world go by, daring to cross devil’s bridge in Sedona, to the outdoor park concerts, life here never disappoints and there is still so much more to explore! There are way to many favorite spots to eat, drink and be merry and have never been disappointed in any experience!

It’s still a dream that I live here and Arizona will always be my home!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout is dedicated my Mum & Dad. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your support, guidance, love and encouragement!
