Meet Trevor Cully | Entrepreneur & Ametuer Streamer

We had the good fortune of connecting with Trevor Cully and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Trevor, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I came up with the idea back during the pandemic and when Tiktok was booming. I was looking at updating my Xbox username and wanted something “Fresh” and arrived at Dr Fresh. I took that name and made it my Tiktok name and online persona. 4 years later and I have slowly made a name for myself and have an online presence with a small following on Tiktok, YouTube and Discord. I felt it was the right time to try to monetize and lean into this as much as I could. I’m about to launch a website and a merch line at the beginning of the year and I’m so excited for what’s to come.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a gamer at heart. I have loved all types of video games since I was a kid and still to the is day play as often as I can. I always wanted to follow my passion of video games, but never really gave it a chance and followed other interests instead. Yet one way or another, videos games always came back to find me – and finally during COVID Lock down, I thought “why not?” So I dove into playing them and found an online community who loves them too. It took a little convincing for my wife to initially jump on board, but she saw how passionate I was and eventually was behind me all the way. After a few years is when I decided to actually try to make this a real thing and filed for my LLC, created a website, and about to launch a merch line. Getting to this point was a challenge and an uphill battle, I had to really rely on myself – something I haven’t had to do in many years. There was no path to follow, I had to be creative and create my own. Building my own brand has been difficult, and in some ways I’m still finding my voice and design, but that’s part of the excitement and growth of a small business and entrepreneur.

First lesson I really learned was to remove your ego from the business and stay as humble as you can be. Just because one of your videos performs really well or one of your early products generates a lot of buzz, consumers can be fickle and drop you in an instant. That can really hurt your ego if you let it. But if you keep it at arms length away and analyze it – you’ll learn more on how to generate that effect again and see tried and true results that are much more attainable on a regular basis.

I want the world to know that I’m a simple guy with an average upbringing who loves all things Pokémon, anime and video games related. I’m trying my best to fit into this world and follow my passions that I wished I had followed years ago. You don’t have to stick to the cookie cutter mold this world has designed for you – create your own destiny and follow your dreams. You’ll be surprised of the results

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In no particular order:
I live in Scottsdale, and Old Town Scottsdale is a must. A great restaurant scene for breakfast and lunch, but an even better nightlife with live bands, ever changing night clubs, and easy walking from bar to bar. There’s plenty to do depending on the time of year as well – summer time there are lakes, rivers, great outdoor activities in Northern Arizona, otherwise activity areas like Main Event, Top Golf, and go kart racing, just to name a few. Central Phoenix hosts the Arizona Diamondbacks as well as the Phoenix Suns. Glendale has the Arizona Cardinals and many other events that use their field – if we’re lucky, we can catch a professional soccer game, Which is always a treat. If it’s winter time, Zoolights is an absolute must. Our world famous Phoenix Zoo completely decorates nearly every pen and enclosure with Christmas lights and music galore – fantastic way to get into the holiday spirit. But if they are looking for more of a relaxed but entertaining trip, we have an amazing science museum that is suitable for all ages. The Arizona Science Center has tons of interactive exhibits and has new areas and events popping up monthly. Something that anyone visiting town has to check out.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First and foremost my wife has been my biggest supporter. She kept asking me and nudging me on when I would take the leap into creating all of this. Of course the rest of my family has been very supportive, however, my wife has been there since day one and really saw me go through all the ups and downs to get to this point. There are a few streamers as well that showed me that my passions could also be a profession or at least an Avenue to truly express myself that felt more freeing than I could imagine. Do wheel is a streamer based in england, who show me that pokémon, my childhood obsession, could truly bring joy and value to someone else’s life. There are a few other streamers who show me that not only pokemon, but gaming and other interests can really make this dream in reality. I have made several friends along the way who have also been a big part of me making the decision to start this adventure. Their names are Bison Games, Woop!, and a few others. Finally, I want to thank all my moderators on Discord who have believed in me from the very beginning and saw something in me that I didn’t even see in myself. They are the voice of reason and a constant source of support and encouragement. I definitely could not have gotten this far without them at all
