Meet Sarah Clayborn | Acrylic Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Sarah Clayborn and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Sarah, what are you inspired by?
Music is definitely my biggest inspiration. I’ve always been into RnB and hip hop since I was a kid, and that love hasn’t faded at all. There’s just something about the way it hits—the beats, the melodies, the way it makes you feel and move. It’s more than just sound; it’s a whole vibe that sticks with you.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Honestly, I’ve done some reflecting in my art career and I’m glad to say that I’m proud of myself because I’ve pushed myself to do things that I never thought I would do like speaking in front of a crowd and guiding them to paint. Since of my biggest hurdles is being social, planning my own Bratz themed paint and sip and teaching other paint and sips is truly satisfying knowing I accomplished that.
I’m still looking forward to challenge myself in being comfortable with people and really yearning to make new connections throughout my lifetime especially if it’s through art.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We would pack our bags and hit up Downtown Phoenix! I’d want them to really experience the vibe of the city—good food, good music, and dope spots to chill.
First, we’d start the day at Kahvi Coffee Shop to grab a drink, enjoy some good food, and just soak in the atmosphere. It’s the perfect spot to be in the moment and set the tone for the day.
Next, if there’s a pop-up event or an open mic night, we’re definitely pulling up. I love checking out creative spaces and seeing what the local talent has to offer.
When it comes to food, we’d have to agree on what we’re craving, but honestly, you can never go wrong with soul food—yams, mac & cheese, greens, spaghetti… that’s a meal you just can’t turn down.
After grubbing down, we’re definitely heading back to the hotel or Airbnb to sleep off the food coma—because let’s be real, a good soul food meal will take you out for a minute.
To end the night, we’d hit up Great Skate Roller Rink for adult night. The music, the energy, and the whole vibe make it the perfect way to wrap up the day.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
The support I have as an artist is insane. I’m so grateful that my parents believe in me, my aunt Tee always keeps me motivated, and my friends in the creative community also drives me to do what I do persistently. Having people who really ride for me makes all the difference.
