Meet Danielle Conway | Pure Barre Surprise co-owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Conway and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, what’s something about your industry that outsiders are probably unaware of?
At Pure Barre Surprise our members are looking for a great workout inspired by Yoga, Pilates, and Ballet. Pure Barre is an empowering full-body workout that transforms you physically and mentally. Our classes have been carefully designed to feature low-impact, high-intensity movements for any fitness level. With Pure Barre Surprise, you’ll build full-body strength at our studio and be inspired by our supportive community.

Often times what our members do not expect when they first get started is the strong sense of community we strive to create. Each class experience not only transforms them physically but mentally as well. We often say Barre is Therapy. From the moment our members walk through our doors we create a welcome, inclusive, supportive atmosphere from the front desk team, to the teacher, and pour that positivity into our members who then spread and share that with other members. Whether you are in your first class or your 500th class, we want everyone to feel supported and ready to be changed for the better one class at a time. Our community is surprised and uplifted by the warm welcome greeting we give them every time they step foot in our space. We want all members with all fitness levels and backgrounds to feel we are a safe space so they can check all the baggage at the door and just focus on what they need in that moment for the next 50 minutes of class.

My motivation and drive behind Pure Barre as a brand and specifically our location in Surprise is to create a space where men and women of all ages and athletic ability can find strength and focus on their individual goals both emotional and physical. We want to uplift people as we all go through different challenges in life every day and to remember we do not know what our neighbor has weighing on them. Pure Barre Surprise is set apart from all other fitness programs out there simply because we want to make that weight feel lighter for every single person that walks through our doors.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I like to think having a strong work ethic and being able to develop and lead a team with professionalism that fosters a positive work space that is structured and encouraging is key in success. It is important to hold your team accountable and allow opportunity to grow, learn and improve on life skills. Most of our staff are young and have so much to learn by being part of our Pure Barre Family. The experience one has as a member of Pure Barre is very different from how it looks and feels to work with Pure Barre. We train all of our staff to be a crucial piece of the experience that all our members rush back to each day. It has not been easy to create a balance between owning a Pure Barre and feeling the member experience and the magic Pure Barre creates. That has been an adjustment but one that I am definitely proud to say I am on the side of creating the joy and fulfillment others are seeking when they walk through our space.

Our members are searching for something bigger than the local gym and we are very proud to know we can give them that and grateful they trust us to share parts of their lives with us. We go above and beyond to motivate, challenge, encourage, and hold them accountable. Pure Barre is like no other fitness program out there and I am beyond blessed to say I get to be part of that process.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
When my girls come to town we are definitely starting our day with a Pure Barre Surprise Empower class to get our hearts racing and our sweat on! We will follow that with up with a stop at One Stop Nutrition next door to get our protein packed smoothie in. Then we would head over to my favorite and top rated Salon in the West Valley, Society West for some fresh blowouts. After our fresh hair we will need to fuel our bodies with some delicious Brunch food at Park Cafe. Next stop is shopping therapy at Sonoran Rose for the best boutique styles in town. A trip to the west Valley would not be complete without some pool time at the Wigwam Resort and Spa for some happy hour cocktails and apps. Before the night ends we will head to dinner at Litchfields and then get our cowgirl boots on for live Country Music and dancing at the Stillery.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to My Co-Owner Gabriella and her first Pure Barre Studio she opened in Goodyear Arizona, Her success and passion for what Pure Barre represents and the desire we both share to create a space where primarily women can feel welcome and supported on their fitness Journey was inspirational and really lit a fire under me that made me think lets create more of these spaces together. We both have a drive in life that tells us we can accomplish great things and show our families what hard work can flourish into. My husband is also a huge driving force behind my decision to open my own Studio. We have 5 children and I had spent the last 15 years raising our kids and caring for our family and all things related to our home and the life we had built together. He pushed me to take the next step and follow a dream I had always felt passionate about. As a former dancer Pure Barre became a natural movement for me. That paired with my college background in Psychology and Marriage and Family Therapy, I felt a strong connection to the member aspect of Pure Barre. I love building relationships and learning about our members backgrounds, stories, and walks of life. I love encouraging them and building them up to know they can feel their best and support them working towards the goals they share with us.
