We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Dale And Jennifer Stern and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Dale and Jennifer, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
We both felt a deep calling to do more—not just treating illness once it’s already taken hold, but helping people live healthier lives and prevent, manage, or even reverse metabolic disease.

As an internal medicine physician, Dr. Dale often sees patients arriving at the hospital with advanced stages of conditions like type 2 diabetes, hypertension, or heart disease. By that point, the opportunity to truly reverse the disease has often passed. With an estimated 1 in 4 Americans unknowingly living with prediabetes, the problem is widespread—and yet, many doctors simply don’t have the time or resources to give patients everything they need to stop these conditions in their tracks.

That’s where our partnership comes in. By combining the clinical expertise of a physician with the practical, everyday strategies of a nutritionist and personal trainer, we’ve created a science-backed approach that empowers people to make lasting change. Our model delivers the support, accountability, and education people need—within a community setting and at an affordable cost.

Together, we believe prevention and reversal are possible. What’s been missing is a system that bridges the gap between medical care and day-to-day lifestyle support. That’s the mission that brought us together—and the one that keeps us moving forward.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
At Real Deal Doc, our mission is simple but powerful: to help people prevent, manage, and in many cases reverse metabolic disease by combining medical expertise with practical lifestyle support. What sets us apart is our unique model that unites the science of internal medicine with the everyday tools of nutrition and fitness—delivered in a way that’s accessible, affordable, and community-driven.

We’re most excited about our new partnership with PRADO, which will allow millions of Americans to unlock their Health Savings Account (HSA) funds to pay for doctor-approved meals designed to treat diabetes, heart disease, and obesity. Just as importantly, we’re building a network of physicians who can prescribe these meals, making “Food is Medicine” a reality instead of a slogan. This collaboration bridges the gap between the clinic and the kitchen, finally giving patients the tools to implement their doctor’s advice at the dinner table.

Getting here wasn’t easy. Like so many in healthcare, we’ve seen firsthand how broken the system can feel—patients often come to Dr. Dale at the hospital when their disease is already advanced, and traditional medicine doesn’t provide the time or resources for real prevention. On the other side, as a nutritionist and trainer, Jen saw the missing link between knowledge and daily support. We overcame these challenges by joining forces, combining our expertise, and refusing to accept the status quo.

The biggest lesson we’ve learned is that people don’t fail because they lack willpower—they fail because they lack systems of support that meet them where they are. By offering community, education, accountability, and now access to medically tailored meals through HSA funding, we’ve created a sustainable model for long-term change.

What we want the world to know is this: metabolic disease doesn’t have to be inevitable. With the right tools and support, people can take back control of their health. Real Deal Doc exists to make that possible—not just for the few who can afford concierge wellness, but for everyone.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We truly embrace the healthy living in Arizona. We would start out the morning with a hike on Piestawa and head to brunch at Luci’s on the Orchard for fave healthy bites and good patio vibes.
On Saturdays we love the Old Town Farmers Market, especially the dumpling and mushroom stands. For dinner we would head to one of the best spots, Cafe Zuzu for their seasonal rotating menu created by our friend Chef Russell, and then grab a cocktail overlooking the sunset at Hotel Remi. Sunday would be Spa day, we like the Spa at the Phoenician or Princess hotels and a yummy family favorite dinner at Trevors as it’s a really unique concept with delicious pizza.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Our friend, Dr. Nicole LePera, widely known as “The Holistic Psychologist,” has been a pioneer in creating communities that empower people to take charge of their own growth and transformation. Through her work, she has shown that lasting change is possible when individuals are given not only the tools and education they need, but also a supportive space to practice new ways of thinking and being. Her approach blends psychology with holistic wellness, encouraging people to move from passive patients to active participants in their own healing journeys.

By fostering communities built on education, self-awareness, and empowerment, Dr. LePera has helped countless individuals realize that they already hold the capacity to become the change they seek.
