We had the good fortune of connecting with E. Marie Hall and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi E. Marie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Looking back, I can see the signs were always there. Years ago, people would often say, “You’re such a great listener.” Staff from other departments would wander into my office, not for work-related reasons, but because they felt lighter when they walked out. I didn’t know anything about coaching, speaking or starting my own business at the time. I just knew it felt natural to hold space for them. It was effortless for me, and comforting for them. But it would take years before I understood what that really meant and where it was leading.

As time went on, a sense of uneasiness began to settle in. My work was fine, but it wasn’t fulfilling. Deep down I knew, there had to be more. I tried to imagine what “more” could be. I loved dancing, exercising, and traveling, but none of it clicked. Then, in September of 2009, everything changed.

That was the day I discovered personal development through a Jim Rohn CD. It felt like being struck by lightning. In an instant, something awakened in me. I realized not only could I radically transform my own life, but I was meant to help others transform theirs. I remember sitting there in tears because the truth of it was so powerful.

At that moment, my search ended and my purpose began. Coaching, speaking, training, and immersing myself in continuous learning became my new path, my business. I committed to mastering the skills that would allow me to serve with excellence; whether guiding a client, standing on a stage, or facilitating a room full of people hungry for growth.

And even now, all these years later, I still feel that same spark of excitement every time I think about the work I get to do.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Tell us about your business:

My business is built on something deeply personal: the belief that emotional wellness and mindset work can transform the trajectory of a person’s life. As an Emotional Wellness and Mindset Coach, I help people clear the emotional and mental clutter that keeps them stuck, i.e. limiting beliefs, painful memories, old patterns, and invisible barriers that shape how they show up in the world. What sets my work apart is the way I blend science-based methodologies with deep compassion, lived experience, and a genuine understanding of human behavior.

People don’t come to me simply for advice or strategy.
They come because they feel seen.
They come because I understand trauma, resilience, loss, and reinvention. It’s not from theory, but through lived experience.

My coaching style is warm, intuitive, and empowering. That safety is what allows real transformation to take root.

What sets me apart?

There are a few things that define my work:

Safety first. I create a space where people can release long-held emotions without fear or judgment.

I’ve lived the transformation I guide others through. Healing from personal tragedy, brain surgery, and emotional wounds has shaped the way I serve.

Advanced modalities, delivered with humanity. Mind Shifting, NLP, Timeline Therapy, hypnotherapy, and emotional wellness tools woven with genuine compassion.

I integrate emotional, mental, spiritual, and mindset growth. My work honors the whole person, not just their goals.

What I’m most proud of:

I’m proud of the countless breakthroughs, the clients who found their voice, reclaimed their confidence, healed hidden wounds, and rediscovered their purpose. I’m proud of the rooms I’ve stood in, the women I’ve supported, the organizations I’ve trained, and the stages that allowed me to share a message of resilience and hope.

But most of all, I’m proud that my business is anchored in integrity and love. Every workshop, every session, every keynote is delivered with the intention of helping someone step into a healthier, more empowered version of themselves.

How I got here:

Let me be clear. IT WASN’T EASY!

This journey required sacrifice, courage, faith, and resilience.

Life doesn’t stop to wait for your dream. Business is built in the midst of grief, healing, financial uncertainty, and life-changing health challenges. I often had to push through self-doubt, fear, and the unknown. There were moments when I questioned whether I was doing the right thing, moments when I felt alone, moments when life demanded more strength than I thought I had.

But purpose pulled me forward.

I invested in my education, even when it stretched me.
I took opportunities that scared me.
I committed to healing myself so I could hold space for others.
I learned, I grew, I stumbled, and I got back up, Every. Single. Time.

There came a point in time when I couldn’t quit, even though sometimes I really wanted to.

Those moments shaped the businesswoman and coach I am today.

Lessons I’ve learned along the way:

> Consistency builds what inspiration starts.

> Authenticity is your greatest marketing.

> Your healing determines your capacity to lead.

> Patience produces clarity.

> People will always remember how you made them feel.

What I want the world to know about my brand and story:

My brand is rooted in compassion, transformation, and truth.
It’s about guiding people toward emotional freedom, mental clarity, and the courage to rewrite their lives. I want people to know that healing is possible… that resilience is real… that your story doesn’t end with pain, and that the life you desire is absolutely within reach. I’m living proof!

And today, I am honored to continue this work as a Coach and Trainer with The Leader’s Edge, helping individuals and organizations elevate emotional intelligence, strengthen leadership, and create environments where people feel valued, supported, and empowered. Serving with The Leader’s Edge allows me to expand my impact by bringing mindset mastery, emotional wellness, and human-centered leadership into organizations that need it most. Every family, organization and team is made up of individuals.

Everything I do—whether coaching, speaking, training, or writing—is grounded in one powerful message:

You can transform your pain into purpose.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, we truly wouldn’t have to go far to enjoy the beauty of this area. The Valley is surrounded by majestic mountains and palms, and most months of the year, the weather is simply amazing. You can step outside and instantly feel like you’re on vacation.

I’d probably categorize our week into four themes: desert sunset magic, red rock adventures, arts & culture, and shopping & dining.

To ease into things, we’d start with one of my favorite simple pleasures: an early morning or evening walk at a local park. I personally love Kiwanis Park in Tempe or Papago Park in Phoenix, but honestly, there are so many beautiful parks here. And since we’d already be at Papago, we might as well climb up and watch the sunset from Hole-in-the-Rock—it’s one of the best views in the city.

From there, we’d make our way to the Biltmore, which is great for browsing local shops and enjoying a delicious meal. And yes, we would absolutely top it off with dessert from The Cheesecake Factory. That’s a must. A stroll through Old Town Scottsdale would also be on the list, exploring the galleries, boutiques, and all the character the area has to offer.

Of course, Sedona is a definite must! We’d drive up with tasty snacks, good music, and windows down just enough to feel that fresh, peaceful energy. The views of the Chapel of the Holy Cross and those stunning red rocks are unmatched. It’s still one of my favorite places to visit. A close second is the Dolly Steamboat cruise at Apache Lake; and if we’re lucky, we may even get a chance to meet Miss Dolly herself! I’ll warn you though, the drive is not for the faint of heart: steep mountains, narrow roads, and even a single-lane crossing. One vehicle at a time, please!

On another day, we’d absolutely visit the Desert Botanical Garden followed by a stop at Tempe Town Lake, which is also surrounded by great shops and fun places to explore. And because it reminds me of childhood picnics and long hikes, a trip to South Mountain is non-negotiable. The panoramic views from the top are breathtaking. For lunch, we’d grab comfort food done right at Lolo’s Chicken and Waffles; because sometimes your soul just needs that kind of meal.

Toward the end of the week, we’d treat ourselves to a beautiful dinner at Camelback Inn, soaking in even more stunning views and reflecting on everything we experienced.

All of that together would make for an unforgettable week here in the Valley of the Sun; filled with beauty, adventure, good food, and memories that linger long after the trip is over.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely. My shoutout goes first to my family, especially my aunt and uncle who raised me. I am the person I am today because of them, and I am beyond grateful. As a sibling survivor of domestic violence, my faith and my family’s strength are woven into every part of my work.

I also want to honor my son, Coach Q, who is truly the heartbeat behind so much of what I do. His love, resilience, and belief in me keep me grounded and inspired. I consider myself blessed to share this journey with him; my co-author, my supporter, and my friend.

And of course, there have been so many others along the way who have supported, mentored, and encouraged me at different points in my journey. I’m deeply grateful for every single one of them.
