We had the good fortune of connecting with Kalysta Ehmann and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Kalysta, what is the most important factor behind your success?
As a business owner, there is not one right answer behind success. For myself, working on days that I don’t want to, putting my head down, and checking off my to do list is things that set you apart for success. Setting a schedule and being consistent every day has given me great success in my business. My morning routine starts with a workout, healthy breakfast, and a devotional studying my Bible. Those three things kickstart my day for undivided motivation throughout the day to get my work done. Yes it’s cliché to say consistency is key, but until you own a business, you will never change that thinking.

On the business side of my success, I like to get things done before deadlines, let my personality really lead on wedding days and back-and-forth planning, keep everything organized and structured, and stay true to my editing and style. Comparison is the thief of joy, and I believe that it is truly the thief of success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
My business has been built from scratch with a lot of hard work! My website design, teaching myself the manual functions of my camera, and my editing. I have been known for my unique prompt/posing while I am shooting and the results that come of it.

What sets me apart is my editing style not being like anyone else’s, as the eye catcher, and then once you meet me, I try my best to always show the love of Jesus with warmth and smiles to everyone.

I am most proud about my recent traveling endeavors getting to take beautiful photos of couples in exotic locations. For example, the Bahamas, the colonial architectures of Tennessee, the warm breeze and greenery of Florida, the rolling hills of Colorado, and I will be soon shooting in the coastline of Michigan, the beauty of Spain, Italy, France, and Germany this year coming up. As a destination, wedding photographer, I want to see as many destinations as I possibly can! I want the world to know that I will travel pretty much anywhere for your beautiful wedding and capture it with my unique style you will find nowhere else!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friends came to visit me in my fastly growing town, there are definitely some “go to” places and things to do while you’re here. First things first, I would book a photo shoot with Thru Kals Lens being in a different city and wanting some professional memories. As far as food, places that are a must go to are: In-N-Out Burger, flower child, Charleston’s, Ohso, Spinatos, and Joe’s Farm Grill. As for coffees and drinks: Dutch Bros, Light heart coffee, the coffee shop, and press coffee. For more things to do: Queen Creek botanical Gardens and amusement park is so fun, the photo booth at Barnone Agritopia, going down the salt river in an innertube, exploring wildlife while off-roading, Santan flat for country dancing, and take them to all my old hangouts being a local since birth. And of course, soaking up the Arizona sun!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My husband has an eye for creativity and throughout my career, I have asked him to look over my work and give honest critiques to improve any colors that I wasn’t seeing, shadows, ect. This past year, I have really taken his advice and it has transformed the way I create art. A huge shout out to my husband for his amazing true honest support in helping me make my business better and really bring my style to life! I love you honey🤍
