We had the good fortune of connecting with Colin Robinson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Colin, how does your business help the community?
Kidokinetics creates a positive impact by helping kids build confidence, develop healthy habits, and feel successful being active at an early age. Our programs focus on inclusion and encouragement, giving every child, regardless of skill level, the opportunity to participate, try new things, and grow.

We partner with schools and communities to make sports accessible and fun, especially for kids who may not otherwise have exposure to organized activities. Beyond physical skills, we emphasize teamwork, listening, and resilience, helping kids carry those lessons into the classroom and everyday life.

At its core, Kidokinetics is about setting kids up for long-term success by making movement, confidence, and a love of activity part of who they are.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My career hasn’t been a straight line, and it definitely hasn’t been easy, but that’s been one of the biggest advantages. I’ve spent most of my professional life building things, whether it’s growing brands, developing partnerships, or creating new opportunities from scratch. That experience has taught me how to stay flexible, solve problems, and focus on what actually moves the needle.

In my role as Director of Sales at Cryptozoic Entertainment, I work across trading cards, tabletop games, and collectibles, helping bring products to market and expand where and how they’re sold. That includes everything from working with major retailers and distributors to launching new products online and building out direct-to-consumer strategies. It’s a fast-moving environment that requires both big-picture thinking and constant problem solving, whether it’s navigating supply chain challenges, optimizing product launches, or finding new ways to connect with customers.

Alongside that, I made the decision to build something more personal through Kidokinetics. As a parent, I saw firsthand how important it is for kids to feel confident, included, and excited to be active. That’s what drew me to this business. It’s not just about sports, it’s about helping kids develop skills and confidence that carry into every part of their lives.

What sets me apart is that I’m always thinking about the bigger picture while still being willing to get in the weeds and make things happen. Early on, that meant doing everything myself, which led to some burnout. Over time, I’ve learned the importance of building a team, trusting others, and focusing on where I can have the most impact.

The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that growth comes from consistency, not perfection. There are always challenges, whether it’s hiring the right people, balancing responsibilities, or figuring out the next step. But staying focused on the long-term vision and continuing to show up is what makes progress possible.

What I want people to know about me and this brand is that it’s built with intention. Whether it’s the products we bring to market at Cryptozoic or the experiences we create through Kidokinetics, the goal is the same, to build something that people genuinely enjoy and connect with. That’s what makes it meaningful, and that’s what keeps me excited about what we’re building.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a friend was visiting, I’d show them the version of Phoenix I actually live in, wide open desert, tons of parks, great food, and a pace that feels a lot more relaxed than people expect.

Day 1 – Right Outside the Door
Start with breakfast at Eggstasy, then head straight into the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve for a walk or light hike.
Later, hang at one of the neighborhood parks, which is honestly one of the best parts of living up here, plenty of space, great for kids, and just easy to enjoy the weather.
Dinner at The Sicilian Butcher.

Day 2 – Desert + Slow Morning
Mountain Bike at Apache Wash Trailhead. It’s quiet, scenic, and feels like you’ve escaped the city without actually going far.
Late breakfast nearby, then pool or park time again.

Day 3 – Parks + Real Life Phoenix
Hit a couple different parks, maybe bring a ball, let the kids run around, just hang.
Dinner over at Norterra Marketplace where you’ve got plenty of options.

Day 4 – Change of Scenery
Drive up to Sedona or Prescott for the day. It’s the perfect contrast to Phoenix and always feels like a reset.

Day 5 – Something Different
Check out the Musical Instrument Museum or Desert Botanical Garden. They are some those places people don’t expect to love, but always do.

Day 6 – Keep It Easy
Another low-key day park to maybe even bring them to a Kidokinetics session to see what I’m building.
Dinner somewhere like The Vig for a good mix of food and atmosphere.

Day 7 – Wrap It Up
Brunch at First Watch, then one last walk through the Phoenix Sonoran Preserve.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
If I had to give a shoutout, it would start with my wife, Kelli. She’s the glue that holds everything together and has been a constant source of support as we’ve built this from the ground up. None of this works without her.

I’d also give a lot of credit to the team at Kidokinetics HQ. They’ve built a great foundation and have been incredibly supportive in helping us get up and running and continue to grow.

And honestly, a big shoutout to the kids and families we work with every week. They’re the reason we do this. Seeing kids gain confidence, try something new, and actually look forward to being active is what makes all of it worth it.
