Meet Raf King | licensed massage therapist, owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Raf King and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Raf, what do you attribute your success to?
Our clients’ experience, not just at the clinic, but in their own bodies, is what our priority is. It’s paramount for everyone on my team to understand that we are dealing with people, people with thoughts, feelings, and priorities of their own. We don’t just rub lotion on people, we create lasting impacts that propell healing forward. And it’s in understanding that that we set the stage for proper massage therapy to be done. My business has found success because we understand the world is always moving forward, and we make sure you are too.

What should our readers know about your business?
I started off doing massage because my father was in a head on collision with a drunk driver. Doctors quickly ran out of options, I didn’t see him smile for years. At the height of his pain, he was taking 260mgs of morphine just to make it through his shift at work, then he became allergic to the medication. I went to massage school because I needed to give him a fighting chance, because he wasnt done yet. it’s amazing how much fight is in us all. I worked on him everyday when I was school, and by the time I graduated he was completely off his pain medication. What sets my business apart from other massage clinics, is my reason why. I saw first hand not only what massage can do for someone, but what happens when that option isn’t available and they need it.
I’ve been doing massage since 2008, it was not easy building a business during a recession and then during a global pandemic. But its not only my conviction that drives my team forward, but knowing they all have the same understanding. You overcome challenges with a sense of knowing. Knowing why you’re here, knowing you got what it takes to make a difference, and knowing, at the end of the day, that it will all have a positive ripple effect.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
After we hit some hikes in the area, we’d head down to the Raven for some food, then hopefully a summertime movie tike at the park! Prescott is great for family events and getting out with the community

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Huge thanks to Tammy Harrison. She owned the Healing Massage Wellness Studio before me and trusted me with her clientele when she made her departure. I’ve been able to help so many people because of trust she put in me. I’ve hired and trained staff memebers and opened more opportunities for people to receive high quality, professional bodywork as a result.
