We had the good fortune of connecting with Neha & Joe Weisman and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Neha & Joe, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
When we started The Ill Noise Business Playbook, we thought we were building a podcast. Over time, we realized we were building something much bigger.

It began simply. We started interviewing fellow business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals from our networking groups and local business community. We quickly discovered that behind every business was a person with a unique story, a challenge they had overcome, a lesson they had learned, or a dream they were pursuing. Those stories deserved to be heard.

As we continued interviewing guests, we saw something unexpected happen. Relationships began forming. Guests connected with other guests. Business owners started supporting one another. Community members discovered local resources, nonprofits, and organizations they never knew existed. What started as interviews began evolving into a platform for connection.

The mission behind The Ill Noise Business Playbook is deeply personal for both of us.

Neha survived a severe traumatic brain injury as a teenager and spent years rebuilding, adapting, and overcoming challenges that many people never see. That experience taught her the importance of resilience, community, and having people who believe in you when life becomes difficult.

Joe’s life was also shaped by personal loss, adversity, and challenges that helped him develop a deep appreciation for human connection and the power of encouragement. Those experiences gave him a desire to help others feel seen, valued, and supported through the stories they share.

Although our journeys were different, they led us to a similar place. We both understand how much a kind word, an opportunity, a connection, or someone believing in you can change the direction of a person’s life.

Today, our mission extends beyond producing interviews. We strive to create opportunities for people to connect, collaborate, and support one another. Through our episodes, community events, and growing network of entrepreneurs, nonprofits, and community leaders, we aim to strengthen the communities we serve.

For us, success is not measured solely by views, subscribers, or downloads. It is measured by the relationships that are built, the connections that are made, and the positive impact those connections create. If we can help one entrepreneur gain confidence, one nonprofit reach new supporters, one community member discover a valuable resource, or one person feel inspired to pursue their own dream, then we know we are making a difference.

What started as a podcast has become a community-centered platform built on storytelling, relationships, and the belief that everyone has a story worth sharing.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Ill Noise Business Playbook began with a simple idea: to create a platform where local entrepreneurs could share their stories, experiences, and lessons learned. We started by interviewing fellow business owners from our networking groups and local community. What we quickly discovered was that every business has a human story behind it—stories of perseverance, sacrifice, growth, and purpose.

As we continued producing episodes, we realized we were creating something more than a podcast. Guests were connecting with other guests. Business owners were supporting one another. Nonprofits were gaining visibility. Community members were discovering local resources and opportunities they never knew existed. We began to see the power of storytelling as a tool for building relationships and strengthening communities.

What sets us apart is that we are not focused on celebrities, influencers, or national brands. We focus on the people who make our communities stronger every day—the small business owners, nonprofit leaders, youth sports organizations, community advocates, and local changemakers who often don’t receive the recognition they deserve.

The journey has not always been easy. Like many entrepreneurs, we’ve faced challenges, uncertainty, and moments where we questioned whether we were on the right path. We’ve invested countless hours learning, improving, and building something meaningful. Along the way, we’ve learned that success is rarely about going viral or achieving overnight growth. It’s about consistency, relationships, trust, and showing up for people over time.

Our personal experiences have also shaped the mission. Neha’s recovery from a severe traumatic brain injury taught her the importance of resilience, community, and believing in possibilities even when the odds seem overwhelming. Joe’s life experiences and personal challenges gave him a deep appreciation for human connection and the impact that encouragement and support can have on someone’s journey.

Today, we are most excited about the community we are building. What started as a podcast is evolving into a community-centered media platform focused on helping people connect, collaborate, and grow together. Through interviews, community events, partnerships, and storytelling, our goal is to create a positive ripple effect that extends far beyond a single episode.

If there is one thing we want people to know about The Ill Noise Business Playbook, it is this: every person has a story worth sharing, and those stories have the power to inspire, educate, connect, and transform communities.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If a close friend were visiting us for a week, we’d want them to experience not only the places we love, but also the people and sense of community that make this area special.

We would start by exploring the charming downtown areas throughout McHenry County, including Algonquin, Crystal Lake, and Dundee. These communities are filled with locally owned businesses, unique restaurants, coffee shops, boutiques, and entrepreneurs who genuinely care about their customers and neighbors.

One of our favorite things to do is attend local festivals, community events, farmers markets, and chamber gatherings. These events showcase the heart of our community and provide opportunities to meet the incredible people who make the area such a great place to live and work.

We’d also spend time enjoying the outdoors. The Fox River, local parks, walking trails, and conservation areas offer beautiful places to relax, recharge, and appreciate nature. We especially enjoy spending time with our dogs and taking advantage of the many outdoor spaces available throughout the area.

Of course, we’d make time to introduce our friend to some of the amazing business owners, nonprofit leaders, and community advocates we’ve met through The Ill Noise Business Playbook. One of the greatest gifts of producing the show has been discovering just how many talented, generous, and inspiring people are working behind the scenes to strengthen our communities.

More than any specific destination, what makes this area special to us is the sense of connection. People genuinely support one another here. Whether you’re attending a community event, visiting a local business, volunteering, or simply meeting neighbors, you’ll find people who care deeply about making a positive impact.

That’s what we’d want our friend to experience most—the people, the relationships, and the community spirit that make this area feel like home.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There are so many people we could thank that it’s difficult to choose just one.

First and foremost, we’d like to recognize the many entrepreneurs, nonprofit leaders, community advocates, and guests who have trusted us with their stories. The Ill Noise Business Playbook would not exist without the people willing to sit down with us, be vulnerable, share their experiences, and inspire others through their journeys.

We’d also like to thank the networking communities, chambers of commerce, and local organizations that welcomed us, encouraged us, and helped us build meaningful relationships. Many of our earliest guests came from those communities, and their support helped us believe that this vision could become something special.

On a personal level, we’d like to thank our families, friends, mentors, and supporters who believed in us when this was just an idea. Building something meaningful takes time, patience, and encouragement, and we’ve been fortunate to have people who supported us through the ups and downs.

Most importantly, we’d like to thank each other. The Ill Noise Business Playbook is truly a partnership. Our different life experiences, challenges, strengths, and perspectives have shaped the mission we share today. Together, we’ve learned that stories have the power to connect people, create opportunities, and strengthen communities.

This journey has reminded us that success is never a solo accomplishment. It is built on relationships, kindness, encouragement, and the willingness of others to help us along the way. For that, we are incredibly grateful.
