We had the good fortune of connecting with Jennifer Lopez Krajewski and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Jennifer, other than deciding to work for yourself, what else do you think played a pivotal role in your story?
Working for yourself can sometimes feel very isolating. Making the decision to connect with a community of like minded, industry related people has made such a difference for myself and my business. It’s great to bounce ideas off, get support and even referrals for other business owners. It helps to have connections.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My journey to have my own esthetician business took many turns before I decided to fully commit. I graduated from esthetic school 14 years ago but did not decide to make it my career until 4 years ago.

It definitely was difficult in the beginning to just figure it all out. Where to rent, taxes, do I get an LLC or not, social media and not to mention how do I even get clients???

It actually came relatively easy for me. Just consistency, perseverance and being so grateful for every client. My biggest challenge was when covid hit.

I went from having an overly fully book of clients to having at least half my clients not feeling comfortable going out and found no need for my services. But with this came opportunity. I was primarily doing lash extensions at the time. But with more of an opening in my schedule I was able to add new services, body sculpting. Which has been so amazing!

It also gave me the courage to build and expand my business more. Details coming soon.

My biggest lesson I learned was to reach out to my community. Community of business owners, beauty industry people, other women in similar situations. I wish I had done this earlier. It has been so great to have that community of cheerleaders and support.

So here I am four years into my business, moving into a much larger space and with many ideas to expand in so many ways. It’s only getting better from here.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Being from Arizona there are so many places I’ve come to love. My first and foremost favorite thing is a staycation. Some great options would be the Westin kierland and the Buttes.

I would recommend some pool side fun and drinks at either resort.
Dinner out at my favorite little Italian restaurant Cibo in downtown Phoenix.
Next stop Platform 18 where we would have drinks inside a simulated train cart. It’s such a fun experience and highly recommend.

If we were up for breakfast the next morning Postinos had a great brunch and allows for time to sleep in.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Shout out to my amazing husband who is a business owner as well. He was there supporting me every step of the way. When I first started out he drove for Uber and Lyft and night to make sure I could continue my dream.
