We had the good fortune of connecting with Christa Lebron and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christa, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
The reason as to why I have pursued an artistically inclined career, is due to my love and passion for art since I was a child. I have always loved painting, drawing and simply getting my hands dirty. Feeling the art through my fingers was always something I’ve enjoyed. With my artistic drive, I can truly express my feelings into every creative baking project I do, leaving my own signature mark. I have always loved desserts! Given my love for both desserts and art, I figured why not combine them together and make something unforgettable to share with others.
What should our readers know about your business?
Chez Peachy is a home bakery small business, based in Tucson, Arizona, that is recognized for our colorful lunchbox cakes and other creative sweets. What sets my small business apart from others is my diversity in custom designs and anything that can be put on a small 4 inch lunchbox cake. As far as I know, I am the only home baker that specializes in lunchbox cakes within Tucson AZ. Which I believe is a good way of setting my small business apart from others!
The thing I am most proud about is the strong bonds I create with consistent clients and new clients. I always love knowing that Chez Peachy can be apart of a client’s special occasion with the sweets I create, and see them come back for more. My clients opinions truly is very important to me and I’ll always value that over many things concerning my business. I’m always excited to meet new people, create new connections, and build strong bonds. That’s what keeps Chez Peachy going!
The way I got to where I am today with Chez Peachy is by simply staying consistent with my social media and posts. I am a very extroverted person so I always manage to advertise my business the best way possible by picking up conversations with other small businesses or simply people at the grocery store lol. Being that I am not shy at showing my personality and face, I do find it fun to create reels on Instagram that shows my bubbly personality! I feel like people can get a better feel of who the creator is behind Chez Peachy, and that can most likely create an interest for them with my business! Also during pop ups, I am very expressive with my booth presentation and the first thing I hear most people say is how the vibrant colors of my logo backdrop drew them to my stand. Which is exactly my goal! I want people to see my personality through my brand which is: fun, colorful, warm, vibrant and creative.
The lessons I’ve learned along the way were how not everyone will love your products and that’s okay. Not everyday will be a good day, and that’s okay! As a small business owner just starting out, you learn a lot about winning some and losing some. I had to learn a lot about not letting “losing” moments get to me as a creator. If I had given the power to that small portion of down moments I had experienced, maybe I wouldn’t be where I am right now with my small business. The best thing to learn in those times is to just keep your head up and focus on what really matters within your small business. Once you highlight all the positive points compared to the negative ones, your goal becomes a lot clearer and encourages you to keep pushing forward. So in the end Chez Peachy is all about remaining positive and reaching their goals as a small business.
I want the world to know that Chez Peachy is all about making every moment special by contributing our homemade sweets that are always made with lots of love for you. The story behind the name Chez Peachy is originally French, meaning “At Peachy’s Place”. Being originally from Montreal Quebec, Canada, I grew up in a small town that only spoke French. So that being said, I wanted to allow my brand to stand out by incorporating my French culture within the name of my business. As for the name ‘Peachy’, my late father used to call me peachy as kid, because I had cheeks that were plumpy like peaches. So that’s where the nickname Peachy comes from! It also just means so much to me to commemorate my dad within my business name, that way I know he has a special part in my business.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Favorite spots in the city would have to be:
Cute cafes: Ni Hao Tea cafe. Best boba in town hands down. I also really love Ding Tea Tucson. They are truly so kind and welcoming! They will make sure you feel right at home in their adorably decorated cafe.
Restaurants: I would most likely order some pasta from Paloma’s Pastas or sushi from Sushi Hana! Both of those small businesses are usually my go-to for takeout food and I would definitely want my best friend to experience the delicious taste of their food! I would also go to Prep & Pastry for a delicious breakfast in their beautiful restaurant. I love some delicious French toasts!
Places to visit: Knowing me, I would try my best to find a pop up event happening while my best friend is visiting so we could do some shopping with some amazing local small businesses! I love shopping small and I know she would too. I would also take them to Gates Pass around sunset to see the breath taking view of the desert horizon. There’s nothing like Arizona sunsets.
Hangout spots: most likely would take them to downtown Tucson to go for a stroll through the streets and go grab an ice cream at HUB together. I would also most likely take my best friend shopping too, at a couple of Tucson boutiques within that area. That’s our way of hanging out lol.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to dedicate my shoutout to the first person to encourage my baking endeavor, my momma Rhakiya. She has been my number one supporter and investor since I was 13 years old and has encouraged me to pursue my dreams and to keep growing my small business.
The second person that deserves a shoutout is my beloved husband Joseph who has stood by me these past years during my journey in developing Chez Peachy. Always working through all of my good moments and bad moments, together as a team.
Third shoutout I would love to dedicate to the founder of Boss Women Unite, Tiffany Nakatani. She has truly been a great resource in allowing Chez Peachy to participate in Boss Women Unite’s many pop ups and has blessed my business with many other opportunities. Truly appreciate the bond that has been formed between us!
Final shoutout I would love to dedicate to are huge contributors to my small business growth: my family, friends, followers and most of all God. Without them I do not believe I would be where I am today with Chez Peachy, and I give all thanks to God for blessing me with this opportunity.
