We had the good fortune of connecting with Vickiana Aquino and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vickiana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
To be honest, I never thought that one day I would have my own Business, Photography has been my lifelong hobby, it’s something that I enjoy. During the pandemic I had my 3rd baby and I wanted the Newborn Professional photos, I decided to do it myself and when I saw the gallery of her mini photo session, my first thought was, I can do this, I can be a Newborn or a Family Photographer, that’s how my journey started.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m Vickiana Aquino, but most people just call me Vicky. I’m a professional Newborn and Maternity photographer based in Gilbert, Arizona. I was born and raised in Dominican Republic, and I have been living in USA since 2006.  I’m a proud Mom of 4, they are my biggest blessing, they are my world, being a photographer allows me to expend more time with them and I could never ask for more, I decided to be a photographer because creating images is what I love doing, something that makes me happy, also because you get to choose how much you want to work, Freedom is one of the biggest advantages, you choose your terms and you are your own boss, It’s a lot of challenges when you start, it’s no a easy task but if you love what you do and you are consistent, disciplined, honest and authentic you can make it, believe in yourself and keep pushing forward.
My biggest lesson is that as a photographer you have to put limits, know your priorities, always have time for your family and make sure you are taking care of yourself.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
my favorite place to go in Arizona is Mount Lemmon in Tucson, Arizona, is the highest point, the views are fantastic and make sure you have time to see a sunset, is also a good way to get out of the desert heat.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
To my family for always being there.
