We had the good fortune of connecting with Xander Simmons and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Xander, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I started acting when I was a baby and I had my first paying job when I was 4 years old on set! At this point, I love it and want to continue any opportunity given to be on set.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Being in a PSA (Public Service Announcement) for an antibully project that was put on as many platforms for several years was great. I spread a great message and possibly help many kids in AZ. (I played the bully.) Working for Dhar Mann studios has been great for my career has not only been great for spreading positive messages but also for building my career. Kids recognize me in public where I least expect it. It’s quite surreal. I have filmed several films for Dhar Mann and it’s been a great experience. Working for Dhar Mann takes a lot of work and long hours on set, I also have to drive out to LA for the filming, but I don’t mind it and I love working with the cast and crew there.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’ll list a few ice cream places that are my favorite! I found this awesome ice cream place called Cereal Killerz. It’s awesome. It’s a hidden gem and they only have it in a few places – one here and one in Vegas! This one is in a small shopping plaza in Goodyear – were went on the way to LA to shoot the last Dhar Mann film. The other one we love is closer to our house is Soda Jerk. They make the most deluxe milkshakes ever. We had one on the 4th of July that had lit-up sparklers on it! They really go all-out! This is located in City North near Desert Ridge.
And of course Sugar Bowl. This is a favorite that many people visit because it’s a staple of Scottsdale and they have so many choices. It’s in Old Town Scottsdale.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My mom, of course! She was the one who originally got me into acting. Without her, I doubt I would be where I am today. She really knows this business and helps me in so many ways. Of course my agents in LA and in AZ and my manager are also tops.
