We had the good fortune of connecting with Tristan Evans and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tristan, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I struggled with fitting into the mold of corporate life. I have always been more of a creative and those environments aren’t always places where creatives are free to create. starting my own business would give me the freedoms to meet my customers expectations in new and challenging ways.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I make beautiful unique cakes using multiple techniques to meet customer expectations. Individually detailed Custom cakes for any occasion not just weddings was not something that was readily available in my community. My great grandmother was naturally a gifted baker so I began experimenting with some of her recipes. Once I made the decision that I wanted to be a baker I enrolled into the Scottsdale Le Cordon Bleu Institute to learn modern techniques and made some connections while I was there. Decorating cakes is not easy work, it is time consuming and definitely a labor of love. It takes lots of time and practice and most importantly patience. My brand is all about using custom cakes to tell my customer’s story for their special events.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I love shopping and there’s a lot of that to do in Scottsdale. Recently Downtown Phoenix has been undergoing a it’s own revitalization and there’s tons of fun eatery’s there. Downtown Gilbert has started to become a bit of a foody spot with lots of new restaurants and food trucks. Tempe always seems to have something going on around ASU, Tempe town lake is a great spot to hang out.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I believe in giving thanks to God first and foremost for blessing me with the talent and the heart to serve my community, my family including my Husband Jason Evans and our 4 children who inspire and motivate me to be my best, and last but certainly not least my local church home The Life Church under the leadership of Apostle Kelvin and Prophetess Audra Hines for their unending support and prayers.
