We had the good fortune of connecting with Vincent Serpico and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Vincent, we’d love to hear more about your end-goal, professionally.
There really is no end goal, per se. The “goal” is to craft a life (both personal and business) where the journey itself is rewarding.

I have started several businesses, and this is key advice I want to impart on anyone starting a business. Do not fall in love with some idealistic end-goal; instead, embrace the process; the day-to-day. For example, someone who wants to host a BNB might fall in love with the idea of chatting with guests late at night in front of a fireplace. Sounds nice… but the real day-to-day of owning a BNB is cleaning rooms, managing staff, working with vendors, appeasing complaining guests, etc.

So, in short… there is no place I want to be at the end of my career. I want to enjoy the journey, As paradoxical as it might sound, the journey is the destination.

What should our readers know about your business?
My wife and I opened Breakthrough Smash Room in September of 2021 after visiting another smash room in February of 2021. We went on the advice of our daughter’s therapist, who suggested she try a variety of healthy activities instead of drugs. She absolutely loved the experience, as did I. But, as an entreprenuer, I felt that the business model was lacking and that customers were not being properly served by the business model. So, in a dual effort to (1) bring smashing to more people and promote mental health and (2) start a new business, we opened Breakthrough Smash Room.

We have seen thousands of guests to date, spreading the gift of mental health awareness.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
LOL – I don’t know. I own 2 businesses, as does my wife, and we work 7-days (and nights) a week. Besides checking out Breakthrough Smash Room, the best thing to do in Phoenix is go for a hike. The city has tons of beautiful trails and scenic vistas.

Greg Head has been a mentor over the years and had helped me make some very pivotal decisions.
