We had the good fortune of connecting with David Kellam and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi David, what do you attribute your success to?
The one factor that has brought me the most success, has been my persistence. This quality has allowed me to push hard through the hard and uncomfortable times that seem to make others quit.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
What sets me apart from my peers in any work role is great communication and hard-work. When speaking in terms of communicating with a customer or a teammate these skills are extremely valuable.

My ability to empathize with my clients allows me to place myself into their shoes which helps to find the best solution for their particular needs.

Refinances can be complex with a lot of underlying issues. Such as debts or other homes we may be able to consolidate or rearrange to the clients benefit. A lot of times many issues have not been addressed by the banker at the initial inquiry. Once I have fully dove deeper into my clients story, I am able to envision their situation and further assess my clients wants and needs.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I have family or friends visiting from out of town, Old town Scottsdale is always the first stop. Friday nights are best for a memorable experience at Olive & Ivy where I have made many memories with my family.

Saturday mornings are perfect for golfing at the Phoenician and grilling by the pool. When the weather is cooler out Saturdays are also great for showing visitors around the local Farmer’s Markets.

Sundays are usually a combination of relaxation and organization for the upcoming week. If I am not working with clients over the weekend, I am researching market trends, and different state regulations or programs that will give me more tools for my toolbox. By doing this each Sunday it makes my morning commute a breeze, and sets me up for a successful week. Before I send any visitor on their way, I always have them visit a brunch spot near me, one of my favorites being in Arcadia, the Porch.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
It would be hard to name just one person to dedicate this Shoutout series to, so instead I would like to dedicate it to my entire family. Both my Mom and Dad have incredible work ethics and are extremely hardworking. I remember them placing so much focus on academics, extra curricular activities, and taking time off of work daily to teach my older brother, sister, and I how to succeed.

When I was four, I was signed up for hockey and piano before I turned seven. At the time, my brother and I both disliked the piano lessons and did not want to go to hockey either. My parents looked past our stubbornness and saw the bigger picture of what hockey would eventually do for our reflexes and motor skills and how piano would help with memory recall.

I am forever grateful for everything my parents have done for my brother, sister, and I. All three of us have highly successful careers and we couldn’t have done it without the support and encouragement of our parents.
