We had the good fortune of connecting with Ariel Wright and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ariel, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
When I think about risk, I think about the definition of my whole life! I personally have always taken big risks throughout my life for a multitude of different reasons. And honestly, sometimes no reason at all – there isn’t always reasoning behind risk taking. Often times risks are impulsive and much like my business, it was birthed from a creative impulse that rushed over me quickly.

When I felt inspired to have my own clothing and jewelry line, I didn’t know exactly where to start so I just started by spending money recklessly! Buying materials I like and wanted to experiment with, and really knowing I didn’t have the money to start, I just did it anyways. It’s posed its challenges, but I am so glad I jumped when the creative inspo hit because that’s when your business is at its best – when your creative energy is flowing. I always purchase things when I get hit with strong creative flow, because the best results are birthed from that place.

So do I recommend being as financially reckless as me when starting your business? Not necessarily – however, don’t put something off so long that you lose your creative impulses to make it happen just because there’s some blockages. There’s always going to be obstacles, sometimes the best things to get out of perfection paralysis is taking a risk!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Mylk and Huney is an organic clothing and hand made jewelry line created in hopes to bring a more sustainable, local, high frequency energy to fashion. It’s fashion for every day high vibes! Sweet and simple was what I was going for, staple pieces you’d always want on hand. Clothing styles for different seasons, and jewelry that was versatile, goes with everything, and has meaning behind it.

Mylk and Huney comes from an elemental place – a place where earth, air, water, and fire are the foundational intentions. The clothing is organic cotton and hemp, plant dyed with organic materials like Himalayan rhubarb, madder root, and many other earthy materials that have been dying clothes for centuries.

The mala bracelets are made with pure, matte gemstones, handmade by me. I make each one with the energy intentions around different ancient goddesses and mystical places that I infuse them with in hopes that the wearer attunes themselves to these frequencies. Most malas are made as necklaces, however, mine are set apart by their material and intention to be worn as bracelets. Ideally malas make a lot of skin contact so energy can be transmitted – by wearing your mala as a bracelet ensures the most skin to mala contact possible.

My earrings are made from a clay, an ancient material used for many arts and crafts throughout time. I like to create simple shapes that embody the ways of old, Before things got so complicated and robot machines could produce complex patterns and styles. Staying close to roots is important to me when creating. My earrings carry energy of the elements as well, with a new series I’ve launched containing raw gemstones as well as cut that I have collected in Sedona, AZ.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I live in Sedona, Arizona so it’s very small, but mighty! The nature here is very strong and is the focus of any visit. Cathedral Rock and Rabbit Ears are must do hikes and sights to seen, as well as Thunder Mountain. Food is a real toss up in this predominantly spiritual, artist town but I’d recommend Thai Spices, Hiros Sushi and Javelina Cantina. Popular hangs outs are Lacuna Kava Bar where people like to get rooted and listen to their nightly DJs. Though I mostly spend my hang out time outside on the red rocks!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The first person who deserves a shout out is my amazing friend and clothing creator, Olivia Hawkins. Like me, she took a risk and jumped in as we navigated co-creating my vision of Mylk & Huney together. Olivia already owns and creates her own line of silk dresses and plant dyes everything by hand. She is incredibly talented, has an amazing eye for detail and design, and bolsters creative energy like no other! Thank you for everything Olivia!

I’d also like to thank my friends and family for supporting my business and encouraging me when I’d lose hope, interest, and motivation. Their words of encouragement and validation that I am doing amazing and creating a unique line of organic clothing and jewelry has really kept me going. I am so glad I’ve never given up, thanks to them!
