Meet Am BRO | Reggae/ Hip Hop Recording Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Am BRO and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Am, what role has risk played in your life or career?
As an active Reggae/Hip Hop recording artist I used to think every penny taken away from the financial stability of my life that went towards music; like recording sessions, performances, music videos and so on, was a risk.

Lately, it feels less like one. Due to how fulfilling it has been to be able to express myself artistically and get feedback from fans and listeners about how they connect with my music.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I create and perform reggae music in a market that has not quite embraced it yet. Aside from the Marleys its seems like most people in Arizona don’t even know what the reggae sound is. There are so many other sounds that stem from it. Dancehall, afrobeat, reggaeton and so on. That’s where I came in. .

So proud to see that I am able to make people out here in Arizona embrace reggae. Which is often under appreciated in areas with less of a carribbean influence. Unlike New York City or other places in the United States that do. Hopefully it will land me an opportunity to perform with some of the artist that inspired me at the Arizona Reggae Fest!

For a while I was lost with what I wanted out of these opportunities I was creating for myself. Often I would find myself getting lost in the competitive nature of music. Putting out the wrong energy in the music I was releasing but once I realized I wanted to make music for my own healing and satisfaction I started to feel more free with my artistic expression.

I learned to never rush greatness. Once I stopped rushing it. I achieved it.

Reggae music is life! Reggae music is love.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
So i would first start off with a hike at the Hole in the Rock which I think is in Tempe. Fun hike that doesn’t leave you gasping for air afterwards. Nothing too intense. Then I would have to take them to Monastry in Mesa for some bangin burgers and awesome outdoor atmosphere. Check out there smer concert series! For the late nights I would have to take them to either End Game which has everything you need as a nightlife lover. Club up stairs. Gaming bar and restaurant firts level. A third bar with an outdoor patio deck. Only other night spot that I know is better is maybe Loyalty Lounge in Scottdale. Celebrity guest. Always a great place to go and dance it up.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to give a special shout out to my audio engineer, Kieng for helping me grow as an artist and as an entrepreneur. Plus the love of my life and fiance Laraya for allowing me to be great and being a constant support in my music career.
