Meet Tha Sage | Hiphop Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Tha Sage and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Tha Sage, what is the most important factor behind your success?
Determination through both the highs and lows of your process . Success for me is a good balance of both and realizing greatness is dualistic in nature. Edison failed one thousand times before the one moment of greatness struck him. What’s great? “The Process”.
The creative process is what makes an Artist. Somedays I will make leaps and bounds; other days a complete halt.
Regardless of where in the process I am there is always something to gain may it be reflection, imagination or inspiration.
There are points where it may become dark. Yet, my process has taught me determination to push forward and experience what comes at you and from you. That the process in itself is what shapes you as if your the artful expression.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
The music I produce as Tha Sage comes from and is inspired by the environment that I find myself in. Everything is influential; the poverty, homelessness, good, bad and the ugly. These experiences create my reality and Tha Sage expresses this through music and other creative outlets. The lyrics I encompass into the music are real and relatable. Sugar coating the content or following trends is something I’ve always tried to steer away from. Keeping my authenticity is what makes me individual amongst the rest of the world and that’s what people love when they hear Sage.

Getting to where I am now was a whole journey in itself. Would have to say it is still a work in progress and started when I was 11. Always rising above where I place myself in a certain moment then elevating to new heights has always been how I strive as an artist. The perspective and view of where I am, making sure there is soulful sustenance present.

Through all my challenges and growth through the years, I have gained many wisdoms that spark these ‘Aha’! Moments. These are the moments that I realize I have grown larger than myself consciously. Still to this day I realize knowledge is infinite and I’m learning on the daily.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If we’re in Flagstaff and since I’m an outdoors enthusiast; the Coconino National Forest is definitely a place I could spend a lot of time in. Hiking, Biking and everything else in between Flagstaff has something to offer you in that department. The food? The drink? You ask…there is no shortage of amazing food here. Fratellis, Fat Olives, Black Barts; the list is endless. The farmers market is a great community and worth a visit for local goods, endless art venues, music events you name it this town has it. Don’t forget to spend a day at the Grand Canyon since it’s in driving distance.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to start with my Wife Danielle and Daughter Alannah for being my anchors through all the ebbs and flows of life. The rest of my family when stood by my side through thick and thin. My close friends who supported me through it all. Fellow artists who co created greatness with me especially HR PAPERSTACKS out of Los Angeles. The world needs to know him. Everyone else who contributed positively in my life to move me forward especially all you.
