Meet Blackhawk Jones | Operations Manager: Carefree Camper Company

We had the good fortune of connecting with Blackhawk Jones and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Blackhawk, how do you think about risk?
“God placed the best things in life on the other side of fear” – Will Smith. Carefree Camper Company was started when I sold my personal camper van and bought a 4-acre dirt lot. I built my first 6 camper vans on that dirt lot with only solar power. If it rained the day before we would have to wait till noon to run the table saw because we would have to let the solar recharge. 15 months later we have a 7000 sq ft building, team of 8 great employees, and we are working on 20+ campers at any given moment. When I look back there were many of times that I could have given up but knew that better things were right around the corner.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I could tell at a young age that no one valued your time like you do. So, when I was 19, I quit my 9-5 job and started my own construction business. Within 2 years I was able to grow it to 5 employees and some very big jobs. I sold that company and built my own custom camper van and travel for a year. That is how I got to Arizona and started building other people’s custom vans. The Carefree Camper Company is one of Arizona’s only true custom camper van builders that can build almost anything. We build beautiful, one off, shelf contained tiny homes on wheels. That will take you anywhere.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I would start the trip in Wickenburg where I am from. With a quick walk down main and a stop at screamers for the best burger in town. From there we would head to Prescott through the mountains take a walk down whiskey row then head to Jerome and have a bite to eat at the Hunted Hamburger. From there we would head to Sedona and hike the red rocks and explore the town. We would round out the day in Flagstaff enjoying the cool weather.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I do want to say thank all to all of the great people through my journeys that gave me words of encouragement and helped me stay on the right path to get me where I am today. Thank you.
